On July 12, 2024 I went to Bruns and Sons to look at and potentially co-sign on a loan for a 2018 **** F150 for my son. It was determined my husband would need to be the co signer. I explained to ******* that we were going to be out of town until July 20th and my husband would be available to inspect the truck upon our return. I put a $500 deposit on the truck. On July 20th, my husband went to Bruns and Son and checked out the truck. He looked underneath the truck and saw there was OIL LEAKING and the muffler was held up with ELECTRICAL WIRE. This was not disclosed on the Condition Report. He brought it to the attention of ******* who assured him they would fix the problem should he decide to purchase the truck. My husband and son took the truck for a drive and discovered the truck got about 9 miles per gallon. They decided against the truck and asked for the $500 deposit back. ******* then showed them a **** Explorer. They drove it and liked it but saw the condition report indicated it was a Manufacturer Buyback/Lemon. They decided to make a decision over the weekend. On Monday, July 22nd, ***** called ******* and asked for paperwork proving the vehicle had been fixed as a result of the manufacturers buyback. ******* said he was unable to do so. At 4:00 that Monday afternoon, we went to Bruns to request the return of the $500 deposit. ******* was understanding and agreeable. As they were walking out, Bruns senior began swearing and yelling at my husband. He said they would not be returning $500 deposit because they had wasted their time. My husband then went to the parking lot and checked the **** F150 that ******* assured would be repaired. He looked underneath and saw that the truck was in the exact state with leaking oil and a cobbled on muffler. Bruns and Sons failed to repair the **** as they stated they would. They are not being honest and selling vehicles in need of repair to unsuspecting customers. I want my money back.

We responded to this already.  ******** said when he put $500 down he was told it is not refundable.  We held the truck for a week on customers word that buying it. They declined so the deposit is not refundable!!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

We relied that on a condition report that was accurate and truthful. When my husband inspected the vehicle he found they used **************** to hold the tail pipe and muffler together.  The muffler was held up with a piece of wire and there was fresh oil on the oil pan from an apparent leak. The condition report was fraudulent. ******* said it would cost money to fix these issues and tried to sell him a different vehicle. That vehicle was a lemon with no supporting documentation to show that repairs had been made. We will not be taken advantage by a dishonest and unprofessional owner who tries to intimidate by yelling profanities.

Recently bought a vehicle from busines on 2/20/24 since then have found hundreds of acorns in the unit and within a few days loud noise started in the rear, went in today to express how I felt about these issues and felt that the inspection of the vehicle the did was sub par and felt I over paid for the vehicle. After he tried to defend himself about how he prices cars I was told to get the f*** out, his exact words, which to me shows signs of guilt and the car was never inspected,

First of all. Every vehicle we sell goes though an inspection before selling.  Second the customer comes in 3 months after purchase with complaint.  Demands a fix on Saturday   Then tells me we charged too much.  We stand behind all the vehicles we sell within a time frame. Not 3 months later. Customer was the first to get very excited.  Walked out door then decided to call me an a  hole!! Thats when I responded !   We offered extended warranty to customer at time of purchase.  Customer refused.  We run a very professional business.  Any questions call me at ************. ****** Bruns

His response was a lie, I did not demand or ask anything from the business period!! I repeat i Never demanded or asked for anything!! Never got the chance, I walked in, I was asked what was wrong with it I told him everything wrong and end with I feel after looking online I over paid. From there owner went on a tirade about he the under cut everybody and he's been in business so many years and he syands behind everything he sells, etc, and per his answer on an inspection wouldn't some one notice the hundreds of acorns in the engine???? This vehicle is park in a garage, near no trees that produce acorns, and is parked in a large open parking lot at my work, I have the app that tracks my driving since I owned the vehicle for insurance. I have not abuse this vehicle. So showing everywhere I've been ive put just over 1000 miles on it. How is this standing behind his vehicles. Just find this unacceptable no matter how many months I've had it, and I believe that it was not properly inspected before it was sold to me. I feel the owner or employee of the owner did not do a proper inspection on a vehicle if there are 100s of acorns in the thing and still are how was this not noticed???? My goal was to have them possibly look at it a little closer after schriel tire blew what they could out, and see what could have been done from there so I felt better about my purchase since I bought it there, and I wasn't expecting alot just the time to relook over it again and see if they missed something but instead. But I never demanded anything or asked for anything I stated what was wrong and how I felt and only call him an a@#hole after he told me get the f*** out!! The owner has unacceptable behavior. The worst part of this is I actually like the vehicle my only issue is the knocking sound that popped up the hundreds of acorns.  reading the response he wrote being a mostly untrue. And after reading his recollection of things I can't believe anything he says.

Why would customer wait 3 1/2 months to say something is wrong.  Things do happen.  I would look at vehicle and possibly see whats wrong if customer were to call me.  Thank you   ****** BRUNS   Owner.

Well my only response is I would like to bring my vehicle to a few random dealerships or 1 garage and have them inspect it as if it was going on a lot to see what their thoughts on the issues and if before selling me this vehicle should have been informed of anything they see wrong, within reason and specific to the complaints I have, knocking sound on rear passenger tire area, the tires losing air constantly, and a look over any exposed wires considering with all the acorns in the engine area something could have been living in it and chewing on them.
No I will not call the owner, considering that the 1st reply back was 80-90% lies on his behalf I do not trust he would be honest about checking it over properly or being honest if anything was found. And if anything is found that should have been he  pay for the repairs.
If said owner stands by his vehicles as he says this should be no problem. I bought this vehicle specifically for the trailer hitch use. A knocking sound and loss of air in the tires is extremely concerning if I can't use it and a complete waste of my money!!

My son purchased a used vehicle from them in late August had to take it back in for an issue. Had to have some repairs done at ******** Tire. They did not explain clearly what a rebuilt title was, but had him sign the paperwork But the big issue is the engine blew up on this **************************************** the road on Jan 15th 2024. I contacted Bruns and Sons on 1/15/24 and left a message for the owner on 1/15/24 with his son. No return call from dealer. I called and left a message on the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and finally on the 20th I had had enough. I vowed that I would let everyone I know about our experience and I would be contacting the BBB. I finally got a call with from ****** and asked what he was willing to do to help with the repairs. First he accused my son for running the car with no oil. I got a bit upset after 6 calls later. I told him when the rear main seal blows the oil blows out and the engine seizes. I ask for him to help pay for 1/2 of the repairs and his words I can give him a deal on a motor. He would call Monday. No call all day I called him. I just got a in from an auction I will call tomorrow. He did and offered 7000 repair with no offer discount and no timeframe of repair. Car remains inoperable at a repair shop awaiting repair. Estimated repair is ******* this is the cost as long as nothing else was affected when the oil drained and the engine seized. Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you

Bought car 05/03/2022 After test drive reported clunking in the stirring, radio not working. Was told before purchase, by the owner of the dealership that the problems would be fixed, and I would also have a 3 week warranty. And come to find out the transmission was also going out. Reported to the dealership and was told nothing was wrong with the car, then had to the transmission completely go out. Miles were put on the car because I live 2 hours away and I was constantly being told they had the parts to fix my car only to find out that they didnt have the parts when I arrived. After bringing the car to a local shop, I was notified that there was a hole in the subframe of the car. And was told that the dealership legally should not have sold the car.
