I haven't even been late a whole month yet and they're going to shut my power off!! When my sick husband was alive, we had a doctors note even because he had a heart pump in and the power could not be shut off, that's how he survived. And they told me sorry but that doctors note only worked for 1 month out of that whole year! They're not right and should be shut down. ************** doesn't even treat people like this. Help please shut them down!Business response

This letter is submitted in response to Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaint ID ********.
As a municipal electric and water utility, Stoughton Utilities is regulated by the State of *********. ********* Statute ******* prohibits any municipal utility from releasing customer information, except to certain organizations or in specific circumstances. The BBB is not included amongst those exceptions. As a result, Stoughton Utilities will make no comment as to the validity of the complainants claims made in this complaint,nor will it take any action in response to this BBB complaint.
In all dealings with the complainant, we have followed established Stoughton Utilities policy set by the City of Stoughton *************** and the ********* Administrative Code as set by the *********************************** (WPSC). We have acted within the requirements set forth by the governmental regulatory bodies under which we operate.
All charges and fees assessed to the complainants account are set pursuant to Stoughton Utilities rate tariff, which is set and enforced by the *************. Per ********* Administrative Code PSC 113.0406(1)(i)(6), Stoughton Utilities does not have the authority to waive any fees or charges properly applied to the account.
If the complainant believes we have operated outside of state requirements, or in a way inconsistent with how we have treated other customers in similar scenarios, it is recommended that the complainant contact the ****************************** to file a complaint. At that time, WPSC staff will gather all the necessary account information, including payment and billing history, and will determine the validity of the complainants claims, as well as determine if all required regulations under which we operate as set forth in ********* Administrative Codes PSC 113 and 185, were consistently followed and appropriately applied.
