Message: Christable Painting was hired to paint my wood soffits and trim. He damaged my siding, my deck posts and cut down trees that I had told him not to. He also ran his lift into my stone walls, broke several of my yard ornaments and crushed ***************************************** a lot of money. Broke handing bird feeder and bird houses and ran into the corner of the garage and wrecked the aluminum siding. He left trash and empty plastic bottles all over the yard. I can't get my trees back that he cut without even asking me or when he cut down hundred year ********. I specifically told him not to touch the trees in the back yard, but because he had the lift he used it to top the trees. He destroyed 6 trees and left the big branches and wood laying all over the yard to be cleaned up and cut up.Business response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I do not accept the company's response to my complaint. ******* and I walked the area where he wanted to cut tress to make a 12 ft path on the side of the property. We agreed on the 3 trees he would cut to clear the path for the lift, since he felt the path that was already there was too steep and the rock wall at the bottom had a right angle that would not allow the lift to bypass. Once he had the equipment in the back yard, he could not drive it correctly to maneuver around corners or tight spaces, so he took it upon himself to cut down two more trees near my shed, without asking permission, and I was home. He had an electric chain saw that didn't make noise, so I never heard him cutting down those trees. He moved the antique wagon wheels I had between the trees, and drove the equipment right over the large stone circle I had around the wheels, where Hosta's were planted and destroyed all the plants. Those trees were very important to me and my landscape design. I would have never gave him permission to cut them down. He also destroyed several bird houses and bird feeders, as well as lawn ornamentation because of his inability to drive the equipment. Some of the ornamental figures were expensive and one 7 foot metal windmill was a gift from my late husband that has sentimental value to me. He then drove the equipment to the side of the house where the stone wall had the right angle and used it there to paint the wood trim on the second and third stories. While doing this he knocked several of the big boulders out of place that collapsed the wall that took 17 years to build, along with all the perennials I had planted over the 17 years. That is also when he hit the side of the garage, which he pointed out and said he would replace the corner siding. He did do that, but it was white, and he used spray paint to paint it the color to match the siding. It was a different shade of tan, and the overspray is all over the siding on both sides. He also put aluminum nails on the top and bottom that are very visible. The Garden art that I had made was also broken and the glass had to be picked up and removed. I specifically told him not to cut down the two trees that were leaning towards the house. He pointed those out and said he had the lift for 4 days and could use it to top off the trees and cut them down. I told him NO, that I had a different contractor in mind and it should not be done until the fall because they are Oak trees. He said what's the difference, if they get damaged, they are going to be cut down anyway. I still reiterated that I didn't want them cut down. I was not ready to make that decision and wanted to wait. He cut down those two trees and two additional trees that were not leaning and were planted for the landscape design. They held bird feeders and birdhouses, plus twirling ornamental pieces. He left all the wood just lay where it fell. He brought his crew over the last day and they moved the big pieces to the edge of the ***** and all the smaller branches with the leaf's on just lay there. The steep hill he claimed he should not go down with the lift, he went up the hill, got stuck, and destroyed all the ground stones we had on the side of the steps and again, dislodged several of the large boulders to the right of the steps. There is still a large tree limb he cut down and is still just laying there. He destroyed several of the ****** caps I had on my deck railings, 4 out of the 10 were smashed. I have to hire someone to cut up all the wood and clean up my yard, because it looks like a tornado came threw my back yard. I have to replace the 6 trees he cut down without permission. I want to hire a professional landscaper to plant 6 large trees and fix the wall that he collapsed. ************ will cost me thousands of dollars. Each tree alone will cost me over $500.00 to be delivered and planted equaling $3000.00. The perennials I estimate to cost me roughly $400.00. I went out on Thursday and bought some that were on sale because of the late season, and that was over $125.00, which I kept the receipts for. And that doesn't even put a dent in it. The windmill replacement will cost me $97.00 because it is at half price, but nothing will replace the sentimental value of it. The other yard ornaments will cost me over $200.00, since they were artist pieces made of steel and ******. If this business doesn't have insurance to cover the cost of the damages, I will have to hire a lawyer and sue ********** I expect his business to give me $5,600.00 for all the damage. If I hire a lawyer, it will be more to cover the cost of the lawsuit.
Regards,
