Around the 3rd week of May 2022, I contacted ***** ****** via a phone call after finding an advertisement I found on the internet. At this time, we set up a meeting for May 24, 2022, so he could do an estimate on damage to the outside brick and the inside wall of our house. On June 3, 2022, we signed a contract for an estimated cost of $8500.00. At this time, we wrote a check to Mr. ****** for $4500.00 and agreed the rest would be paid after the job was completed. He was to start working on June 13, 2022. At this time, he assured me he was licensed, bonded, and was insured. I also ask if he would be getting the work permit. He stated that he would. He assured us he had 25 years’ experience in the construction industry. I specifically ask him if he was experienced in brick work as there was a significant amount of damage to the brick on the outside of the house. He assured me he was well experienced in brick work. He also stated he would dispose of all the debris from the construction work. Per our contract he was to start working on June 13, 2022. The work is not completed at this time. What he did do is horrible. He “went the cheap route” and bought brick that was painted (to match the current brick) on the front only. This caused a huge problem with the end of the bricks as they were red and did not match the brown brick. Aside from the color not matching the job itself was horribly done. The pattern is crooked, he put cement in huge gaps between the bricks because they were not properly stacked. Due to the bricks not being properly stacked this caused a problem when Mr. ****** got to the end. The bricks were not even. To correct this “horrendous” job he cut the bricks off to make the entire end even, ruining good brown bricks that had no damage. The bricks he worked on had cement all over them covering up the brown color. He took an electric sander and sanded the cement off the bricks causing severe scratches and discoloration the bricks.

      Customer response

      09/24/2022

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This man and his business is not trustworthy nor honest. I had two different people look at the foundation and there is no foundation damage. I have text messages stating to him that there is no foundation damage. The cracks in the bricks he was showing me was actually cob webs. After cleaning the cob webs out there is no foundation damage. I have not filed an insurance claim for foundation damage. He is slandering me by making this accusation. If there was foundation damage I was not going to hire Mr ****** to fix it. The work he has (half way) done is terrible. The only thing he addresses in his response is the foundation. This has nothing to do with the hideous work he has done. He did not complete the job. I have a text from him from either July 1st or 2nd stating he would come by and finish the job “tomorrow” and I had not heard from him until August 25th. He sent me a text message threatening me with the city counsel and “his” engineer and that both of those parties are aware that I got money from my insurance company for foundation damages. If accusing me of fraud wasn’t a serious accusation his threat to me about city counsel and the engineer being involved would be a laughable matter. Mr ****** needs to be held accountable for deceiving two (myself and my husband) innocent people in to believing he knew how to do construction work. I have documentation to prove his accusations are lies.

      Regards,

      ****** *****
