On 5/26/2022 my daughters and I ordered dinner from this restaurant. My order total came to $24.24. We walked over since the restaurant is only a few blocks away from our house. When we got there, I gave the woman, there are only ever two people that work there, a woman and a man and I am going to assume they are husband and wife, I gave her my debit card to pay for my order. Again, it was $24.24. She swiped it and I signed the merchant receipt with a 0 on the line for the tip as I had given her a cash tip when I handed her my card. I get instant notifications on my cell phone from the bank connected to my debit card as soon as a purchase is made. Well, I got one saying that a transaction of $29.09 had just been processed from Taste New Hong Kong restaurant in Weirton, WV on 5-26-2022. I immediately brought it to the woman's attention as it was obvious, she had added a tip to my card after swiping it for the original cost of my order, which is how it works. When you order a pizza for example, and you pay with a card over the phone. The delivery guy shows up and you write in a tip and after a little bit of time, after he gets back to the pizza shop, the tip is then added to the total cost of the order through the transaction number. So, that's what she did. Directly in front of my eyes. Very bold. Obviously had to of not been the first time she has ever done this. I showed her and the man working my cell phone and they argued with me for about 5-7 minutes about this. Eventually she gave me the excess money she withdrew from my account in cash. The problem that I have with this is that what if I only had $25 in my bank account for the food that we bought for $24.24? Had that been the case, she would have over drawn my bank account for $4.85 causing me to get an overdraft fee of $36 from my bank, in turn making my order $65.09! This is absolutely unacceptable, and they should be investigated for this behavior. obvious she has done this before, I am upset. How brazen!
