Originally booked Kaza to do some cabinet and backsplash refinishing. They required a 50% deposit up front which I e-transferred. We booked specifically with this company because we had the 2 week block beginning May 26, 2023 available and confirmed with Kaza. We received an email on May 3, 2023 stating they ran into a manufacturing issue and will delay all projects **** *********. Unfortunately, even though I have tried to make personal arrangements to have this 2-week project done at a later date (to which Kaza agreed to), personal circumstances have made it impossible on my end regarding managing my daughter** **********. I requested a refund on May 26, 2023 to which I was informed they have a *no refund policy*. However, it was previously noted under extenuating circumstances customers could request this (I no longer see this on their website). I believe that the original contract I signed for this work to be done May 26, 2023 and paid the deposit of $2232.96 should be refunded since the company was unable to provide these services on the original date confirmed for. Keeping my deposit as a way to coerce me into rescheduling this service, which has proven to be impossible without undue hardship, I believe is an unfair and ********** business practice. No where on the invoice does it state the deposit is non-refundable. Given it was the company who could not honor this agreement on the original day booked and no services have been provided, no supplies were ordered for our work, I am requesting a refund of my deposit.Initial Complaint

I contacted ****** **** owner of Kaza woodworking in April of 2021 regarding the refacing of our kitchen. He offered a very competitive price and said that we had to act quickly to take advantage of it as he only had a couple of dates left for 2021 asking for a 50% deposit. After brief consideration we decided to proceed and forwarded the ~$2000 to him by etransfer. He came to our home in September to take measurements with the work intended to be started ~4 weeks after that. We were then told that there would be a 2-4 month delay due to delays with his supplier. We did not hear from him after 4 months despite emailing him and texting him. In December 2021 he said he would check in with his supplier. This then started a very long back process of us chasing after him regularly and him rarely responding. He kept saying he would check with the supplier and that things should be speeding up, we should be next in line but it never happened. In April of 2022 he stated he would be giving out dates for refacing clients but we never received one. In July 2022 we requested a full refund and were told he couldn't provide a full refund as he had paid monies to the supplier who was to supply the cabinet doors. The supplier never provided them. He continued to tell us for several more months that he was trying to get the supplier to fulfill the order. He told us that the supplier had finally agreed to do the work in Nov/Dec 2022. This did not happen. We once again requested a full refund in Dec 2022 and he responded that only a partial refund was possible as time and materials had been rendered. We asked for proof of payment to the supplier and he was unwilling to provide it. By January of 2023 we had no timeline for the work. Eventually a family member agreed to do the work and ****** only had to do the painting. He gave us 2 dates in summer/fall of 2023 and neither were fulfilled. He rescheduled for early 2024. We cancelled and asked again for a full refund which he refused.Initial Complaint

In November, 2022, I contracted Kaza to refinish my kitchen - The scope of work was to repaint the cabinets, paint and apoxy the countertop and paint the backsplash. They were able to come and complete the work - however due to supply chain issues, they were unable to complete the countertop. They adjusted the price to account for this and the total cost was roughly $5,000. However, they did not seal the countertop after painting the backsplash. In January, I noticed the backsplash started to peel. At that same time, the cabinets also began to chip. I have attached photos. I emailed Kaza a number of times since January along with photos to let them know and that I just wanted it repaired. I received one email asking me to be patient. I appreciate they may be busy but given it's been almost 5+ months, I feel I've been patient enough. I have attached the emails as well. I just want them to come and fix their work.
