      I received an invitation to enrol in automerit. It indicated that all I needed to do was install the belair app on my phone. I was unable to enrol directly on the app. Automerit did not show up on the app. Several phone calls and chats later, an agent finally enrolled me. Belair should advise policyholders of the procedure and streamline the enrolment process.

      Belairdirect purchased my previous insurance company and I was switched to them. I called them to find out how much it would be to cancel my insurance on 21 October 2024 and was told that the fee to cancel my insurance was 89 dollars. When I called on 21 October 2024 to cancel as I had to ensure that the provider I was switching to would have everything set up before cancelling and at that time I was told 110.76 to cancel my insurance, I was given a vague reason for the increase in cancelation price. I told the representative fine as I would still be saving more by canceling mid year and switching to someone else. 22 October 2024, Belairdirect took a full months premium out, upon questioning this a representative told me they were requesting I get a refund for the monthly payment. I was informed 24 October 2024 that the monthly amount that was deducted is premium that was earned while my policy was active. They inserted the following "Your policy has a time period. If you cancel within that time period, belairdirect shall retain the earned portion of the premium. Contact your licensed insurance agent for more information". You would think that calling to ask how much it is going to cost to cancel your insurance that the representative would inform you of ALL fees associated with the cancellation. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

      When an Automobile Insurance Policy is cancelled by the insured during the insurance contract term (after renewal and before policy expiry date), the cancellation is calculated on a short rate basis. This accounts for premium earned for time on risk and any administrative or handling cost involved with issuing the policy and cancelling it before the expiry of the policy term.
      The payment of $110.76 represents the regular monthly payment for the time the policy was active, in addition to the short rate fee for the policy cancellation.
      Short rate cancellations and the administrative costs associated with that are a part of all auto insurance policies (Nova Scotia) Statutory conditions are legislated policy conditions, which means that are laws set out by the government of (Nova Scotia) which outlines the duties and responsibilities of the insured and insurer under the contract for automobile insurance.

      Phoned Belair Direct to cancel home owner insurance on the day of renewal . The agent told me I would have to pay a cancellation fee to which I replied that I will not pay it. I know there is a cooling off of 14 days after renewal to cancel insurance. He would not agree nor listen to me . We have always paid our premium in full every year. We have canceled all of our insurance (vehicles etc) with Belair and very happy with our decision especially now.

      The client’s home policy came up for renewal on October 23, 2024.  The client called on October 23,2024 advising that coverage has been put in place with another provider and would like to cancel the policy as of October 23, 2024.  An agent incorrectly advised that it was past the date to cancel without penalty. We have revised the cancellation to be on a pro-rata basis.  We apologized for the confusion and provided coaching for the agent.

      The agent following up used ***** tactic that the premium rate when I substituted my old car was with the monitoring app that they want me to enroll. Only when I made it clear to her that when I closed the new rate I specifically told the sales agent that I am not interested with the monitoring app and the price I got was without discount. Besides the discount will only apply after using the app for the term of the current policy. *** ****** ******** ** ** * **** ***** *** ********* ***** *** ***** ***** ******** ***** ** *** *** ***** **** ***** increasing my premium by 370%!

      We contacted the client on October 24th, 2024, and spoke with ******. They disclosed that their concern was addressed, and they are satisfied with the results when they decided to combine their tenants policy with their automobile policy with us. The client asked to close their complaint and advised us that there are no further concerns regarding their policy.

      ************ ****** Increased my payment without letting me know. Renewed my contract without letting me know. Canceled my Insurance and they still charged me for the next mouth and said I had no coverage. Tired of Customer service not able to speak english. ******** **** ********

      We were switched to Belairdirect from ******* for home & auto insurance. Assured by a Belairdirect agent our coverage would remain as it was with *******. I was shocked when I read the huge list of exclusions on the home policy, included almost everything you could possibly claim on a home insurance claim. Unfortunately, I read this a few months after the switch (mostly because I was assured coverage would not change). * **** * *** **** **. I then changed companies and was charged a $235 cancellation fee. Then today I see on my online banking they plan to withdraw another $14.49 tomorrow. If I had chosen Belairdirect I would have read reviews ahead of time, as I always do when making a large purchase. But the decision to switch was made by *******. After I made the decision to leave Belairdirect, * ***** ** ** ***** ***** ** ******* *** **** *** ***** *** **** ** ********** ** *** ************ **** ******* ** *** ******* ******* *** ****** ** ******** ****** *********** ***** ******* * **** *** **** **** * ************ ****** And try to get any customer service from them. I called in and there was a 2 hr wait time to speak to someone. A choice was given to have a call back within 2 hrs, which I chose. That call never came. I then dialed in again and after waiting almost 90 minutes I hung up. I am retired now. I don't know how people who work all day can possibly manage to deal with this *******.       An investigation was conducted, calls were reviewed, and coaching was provided to the agents involved. Apologized for the wait time, as the company is currently facing a higher than usual call volume. An exception was made to backdate the cancellation and change it from short rate cancellation (with fees), to pro-rata cancellation (no fees). Client had no further concerns to bring up once resolution was provided.

      Not true! Withdrawal was made from my bank on Sept 4 amounting regular premium amounts and there has been no refund of that.or mention of refund of this amount. Insurance is paid in advance so this is for protection for the month of Sept, when I cancelled at the end of Aug so how can you say there were no cancellation fees. I paid for a month of which I am receiving no coverage. Even on your website it shows our insurance is labelled "cancelled". So obviously no service is being rendered for the amount paid.

      ** ** ***** **** **** * **** **** ****** ** ****** **** ** *** ***** ********* ******* ***** **** ***** ***** *** ******* *** ** *** **** ************** ********* ***** **** ***** **** ** ***** Our 2022 vehicle burned to the ground over a month ago, and since then we have had to follow-up every week (sometimes more than once) and the adjuster has called us ONCE. We have been assured she will call and she never does, or she claims she did but there are no voicemails and no record of the call. We have always been timely in our premium payments, we have never made a claim on ANY of the 5 vehicles insured with them (which will be cancelled as soon as the current claim is resolved), and the level of service we have received has been abysmal. Every time we call to check the status of the claim, since our adjuster never calls or returns calls, we get a different story about what the status is, we get told that the adjuster will "call back", we get told *there is no customer service department or supervisor we can speak with* unless we wait 24-48 hours for another callback (which shockingly haven't come yet). This company appears to promote thievery as well, given that they have refused to consider the FACTS when replacement value came in $13,000+ lower than it should have, and we had many comparibles that showed the ***** to be even higher. The adjuster and supervisor at that time stated that they would not consider the comparibles, and that the payout was the payout. This was one week ago today, and when we called for an update today (since the cheque has not yet arrived), we were told there was no cheque and that they were still reviewing. **** ** *************** ************ *********** ******* ** **** *****

      On August 28, 2024, the UCM (Unit Claims Manager) contacted the insured to discuss their concerns. The customer expressed that they've resolved some issues with their lienholder. The UCM apologized for the delays associated with the file. The customer has advised that Belair sales has compensated them as well. There were no further concerns with the file.

      Insurance policy was cancelled without warning and with no attempt to contact me due to "non-payment". The company has my address, email, and phone number, and yet I did not receive any communication of an issue with the payment at any point. I only found out when I was required to renew my license plate the following year - and Belair expected me to pay an extra $2000 each year because of their screw-up. **** ******** *** ****** *** ** ********* *****

      No less than 4 phone calls with associated voicemails. Suddenly, Belair is capable of reaching me. Where was this effort when there was an issue with the payment card? I've moved on to another insurer at this point, *** ****** ****** ** ** *** *****

      seriously over priced, and impossible to deal with. I've been on the phone, on hold for over an hour, waiting to talk with someone. Their ite and app both require a cell phone (text verification), o if you only have a land line you can't use it. They make dealing with them almost impossible, and charge 30-40% over competitive quotes.
