I have chosen not to outfit my service animal with a vest, as it could inadvertently draw attention to my personal struggles, further amplifying my anxiety and it's not legally required by service animals.Notably, I observed a sign at the entrance stating that only service animals are permitted inside. While standing in line, a young lady approached me, holding a similar sign, and openly stated, "Dogs aren't allowed inside," as if I didn't read the sign plastered to their door. This interaction, transpiring in front of fellow customers, left me feeling somewhat embarrassed. I kindly informed her that my companion was indeed a service animal. She then relayed this information audibly to a staff member behind the counter before returning the sign to its original place on the counter.I wish to believe that the establishment's intent is not to cause discomfort or embarrassment to any patron. However, this incident led me to feel a sense of shame, contrary to what I believe is your intended atmosphere. As society evolves to embrace a more inclusive approach, I urge this company to reevaluate its practices to better accommodate individuals with diverse needs. It's important to acknowledge that not all individuals requiring special assistance present visible markers such as wheelchairs or identifying vests.
