I am writing this review because I am extremely upset and disappointed with how Cali K9 treated my dog and others at their *************** facility. I received a call from a trainer informing me that my dog's paw was swollen after it got stuck in the crate door during the night. They claimed this was discovered in the morning, but the vet noted that the injury didn't appear fresh. Additionally, the vet noted there were signs of neglect and restraints on the body, (1) bumps from impact, (2) patches of missing fur and open wounds, (3) dehydration and (4) f**** hardened in her fur and dried up urine. The vet has provided an official statement of her professional assessment and has noted this was cruel and inhumane treatment. Days later **** has to return back to the veterinarian to go under anesthesia for a medical procedure to repair the damage caused to her foot. Weeks later she is still limping and wound is not completely healed.Since I was out of town, my mother picked up my dogs and insisted on seeing where the incident occurred, which was in the "secured" sleeping quarters. When I initially dropped off my dog **** for training, I was told by the trainer ******** that the dogs would sleep in spacious kennels and only be placed in crates for a 30-minute cooldown after training. However, the trainer ********* later admitted that there were too many dogs and not enough kennels, so the dogs were placed in small crates overnight. Large dogs were crammed into crates meant for smaller dogs, with no water and no air conditioning. Given the extreme temperatures in ***************, ranging from *******F, this is inhumane. These dogs are suffering in cramped, cruel conditions. On top of that, my dogs came back smelling strongly of urine, with dried urine on one of their backsides. The trainer acknowledged the smell but explained that they don't bathe the dogs until they are returned to their owners, which is unsanitary.

I am rejecting this response for the following reasons:

I have physical evidence, including witnesses and a video filmed in a public space, where both of your trainers acknowledged and admitted to the conditions that were brought to their attention. In that video, they provided an explanation of what happened to ****, which completely contradicts the version you are now sharing.

As for the alleged threat you mentioned, I am unclear on what you are referring to. At no point did I make any threats, either in person or over the phone. In fact, I have a printout of my call log that clearly shows I never contacted your business. The phone conversation was with your trainer, who explained ****** condition. That conversation was witnessed by three individuals, as the call was on speakerphone at the time.

You offered to cover half of the medical bills, rather than the full amount, even though the injury occurred under your supervision. Why should I be responsible for any portion of the medical expenses when the injury did not occur while **** was in my care? I paid you approximately $5,100 for her training and safety, and you failed to meet that responsibility. The veterinarian's statement indicates that her foot was restricted for an extended period, causing significant damage. Had your trainers addressed the issue immediately when it occurred, **** wouldnt have needed a medical procedure or anesthesia.

Your explanation is inconsistent and conflicts with the statements we received from your trainers. Furthermore, while you claim that **** completed 75% of her training, I have observed no noticeable improvement, even when using the commands demonstrated in the training videos.

      Sincerely,

      ********* *****

I purchased the four week board and train and weekend follow up training program for my 11 month old puppy in October 2022 and continued to ask for reimbursement that owner agreed for until September 2023.My puppy was physically and mentally abused and not trained, he developed severe reactivity, anxiety and PTSD due the experience. The owner agreed to reimburse me in writing but still did not. I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the training ($3,372.75)and additional recovery training, lost stuff totaling to $7000.My experience was echoed by many other pet owners according to SF SPCA veterinarians. Despite being out of the country during my puppy's training, I continuously reached out for updates only to be met with silence for over a week at a time. They told me that they only use instagram and I can watch my puppy's progress there, nothing was posted. No one answered my calls, messages and emails. See evidence emails. They shipped my puppy from ************ to *********** without asking me and getting my consent. They did not tell me anything until they showed me a picture of him in ***I specifically noted my puppy's motion sickness during intake. When I voiced outrage for irresponsible behavior, they callously laughed off my concerns. Upon return, my puppy was utterly broken - matted fur, skin rashes, inability to breathe properly from cruel restraints, and exhibiting clear signs of acute anxiety and fear. The mental anguish CaliK9 forced on my pup through their militant "dominance" tactics, including electric shock collars, led to him becoming a reactive dog who would bark at large black dogs (aggressive black Dutch ********).He is terrified of being around new people, barks at cleaning people at buildings.I witnessed trainer viciously shocking dogs.Owner agreed to reimburse me during multiple phone calls and emails but never did. Due to health concerns in family and hoping for resolution directly with owner as promised, could not file this sooner.
