I paid Elite Rooter $22,300 on 7/16/22, to run a new gas line from the street to the house, under the house connecting to water heater, kitchen, washer and both bathrooms. I have recently learned that it was NOT done to code. The line near the house is only 6" deep, where code says it should be 18"; there is no tracer wire on the gas line making it locatable by anyone digging, where code requires this; and it was not buried in yellow sand, where anyone digging would first see the sand and know that a gas line was present. Last month someone redoing drainage pipes by the side of my house hit the gas line and broke it, because it was not to code in all the ways I detailed above. My invoice from Elite Rooter states that "the price comes with a 50 year labor, parts, and material warranty."
In addition to the gas line not being properly done to code, the employees who did the work also left bottles of pee in the crawl space under my house, and a bag of poop in the side yard where they laid the gas line. These were discovered by other people working on my house soon after the plumbing job was completed. I contacted Elite Rooter at the time and they sent guys to clean it up. But I was definitely too kind in that I chose not to write a negative public review at the time!
And now it turns out the gas line is not even to code? Then It seems only fair and appropriate at this time to mention these other "not to code" aspects of their work.
Dissatisfied and disappointed that I invested so much in this company, and really trusted their work.
I also have recently learned that they incorrectly did NOT install a shut off valve for the gas line as it enters the house.
Also the gas line is not strapped to the studs in the crawl space but is just laying on top of the dirt floor.
All of this is making me think that I should have ALL the work they did at my home (laying new sewer line all the way down to street, new water line, etc) redone.
I have discovered that the gas line in the crawl space under the house (which is laying on the ground) is a poly pipe. This is completely not to code, and is actually only permitted to be used outside of house, buried underground!! Under the house only galvanized steel or track pipe are to be used.
Yet another detail of this gas line which is not only not to code, but is an outright hazard.
