I have recently had my vehicle repaired at Hansfords Hail & Dent repair shop, the 2021 Blue Model 3 Tesla had extensive hail damage. I have a few rock chips, normal for Colorado, and asked if they could get me an estimate on repairing those from the body shop, since it would be painted and blended anyway. They stated no problem, and they only use the best body shops. I dropped of my Tesla knowing it will take at least 3 weeks and as I was leaving the owner was looking for the replacement hood availability. Less than 2 weeks later I was informed that my car was done. I was impressed, so we stopped by on the way out of town to look at it and see if we could leave it for the weekend, this was on a Friday night. On arrival my wife and I walked up to the car and noticed it looked dirty, it had been run through a carwash, and rock chips were on the front of the car. As I had no call from the shop about an estimate on rock chips, I realized on further inspection that the vehicle had been PDR’d with no replacements. I could see the paint disfiguration (which the shop denied), I confronted the shop owner, who proceeded to claim that PDR is better as you do not lose your factory paint. This is a false statement, any one who claims that does not understand the repair process or is flat out lying. I asked for the estimate copy from the USAA vendor and it had the hood replaced, and fenders blended, removal and replacement (R&I) all over. The shop offered to pay a couple hundred in paint back to me, which I consider hush money and did not accept it. USAA paid for a, $8,000 repair that was never completed on the vehicle. Upon calling USAA they stated that it was up the vendor that does the estimate. I am in talks with the vendor. This shop also admitted it did not do all R&Is that were on the estimate. (All hubcaps were broken, shop stated they did not R&I just charged for it, turns out Costco damaged them and are paying the replacements no issues).
