This roofer just came to my home to inspect my roof for potential hail damage from our recent hail storms on 6/22 and 7/7. I was assigned to his services via Accuserve an agency that my insurer *************** with to connect homeowners with vetted and screened, quality, independent roofers and contractors. ***** arrive at my home for the appointment a little early, he called me and I stated I was 5 minutes from my house. When I arrived home he was already on my property with his ladder and computer set up. We began discussing what the inspection would entail and he stated that to proceed with the inspection he needed me to sign a contract that I would use him for the repairs. I stated that this was NOT how the field adjustor, *********************** at Accuserve had explained the program. My understanding was that Accurserve connected me with vetted contractors and an additional warranty was provided through Safeco/Accuserve on the work if I chose to hire the Accuserve affiliated contractor. ***** had said I was free to also get direct estimates from unaffliated contractors and decide who I was most comfortable with for best rate and quality if hail damage was discovered during the inspection. At this point ***** became quite assertive insisting I had to sign the contract for him to commit two hours to doing the inspection. I explained I was not going to do this without having two other objective estimates. I asked him to leave my property, but sat parked on the street in front of my house a while longer which made me uncomfortable. I immediately called *********************** and spoke with ******** who stated that this was NOT the standard practice for Accuserve certified contractors. I was able to schedule an inspection with another contractor through Accuserve for this afternoon. It was a difficult and poor customer service experience. I have no knowledge of the quality of his work but very much disliked his customer service and pressuring me to sign a contract on the spot.
