- We contracted MR Remodeling to perform renovations to our house, to include replacing several large windows with new Andersen casement windows. This phase of the renovation was completed in November 2021, the week of Thanksgiving, at the cost of $3800. MR Remodeling never returned to perform other work included in the contract for which materials had been purchased at a total cost of $2897.86. MR Remodeling never responded to our inquiries as to when he would return to complete the renovations. The building materials sat under a tarp in our driveway for the entire winter, under snow and ice. In late May, we attempted to open the windows for the first time, and found they were stuck and the handles weren’t attached but merely placed onto the crank mechanisms. We hired another contractor to fix the problem, and were advised that the windows weren’t installed properly. His assessment was that the windows were not level and square, recommending that we contact the company we purchased the windows from to send a service technician to see if anything could be done. On 6/23/22 the service technician inspected the windows, agreeing that they weren’t installed properly and therefore wouldn’t open. Additionally, he assessed that the windows were set too low for the crank handles to function properly, and that the drip caps that come with all new Andersen windows were not installed. His recommendation was to have the windows removed and reinstalled to ensure they were level, square and wouldn’t leak. We then reached out to *** *****, a contractor specializing in window installations, for his opinion and a quote to fix the issues. On 6/21/22, after inspecting the windows he also told us that they were not properly installed and lacked the drip caps. He gave a quote to remove and reinstall the windows of $4880 plus tax, $5189.88 total. On 7/13/22, we contacted RM Remodeling via email and regular mail in an attempt to resolve the issue with him. He has not responded.
