I needed stored furniture and household goods moved from NY to FL in Nov. 2021. I had no recommendations or referrals so I researched movers I found online. After many quotes and discussions, I picked Sunrise because the price was in the middle of the pack and they had enough good reviews (some not good - all movers had some bad reviews); I talked at length with Salesman G**y to address my concerns, and decided on Sunrise. Pickup and delivery were timely, but once they had my deposit and pick-up money, they became unreliable.
- One thing that sold Sunrise was their policy that the men who were picking up my cargo were going to be the same men who delivered it. I don't know what moving emergency arose (I was told on the phone), but I should have been told of any changes in personnel in advance of delivery - not me having to make phone calls to the office. As friendly as "****" was upon pickup, I had a feeling something was up when he didn't return my friendly texts and phone messages during his drive south. This conduct by multiple staff expressed very unprofessional behavior. It appears they lied to me about this aspect of their service.
- When "*****" opened the back of the U-Haul truck at delivery (the new driver), I saw that my cargo was bounced around on the trip. Any reasonable person would agree that it was really disheartening to see their valuables strewn around by people who were paid to care for them. Obviously, my cargo was not secured properly, although I was assured many times during my supervision of their loading that "we do this all the time; nothing is going to move on this trip! It's all very secure." I have pictures to prove it.
-**** and I discussed the distance from the elevator to the apt. We discussed that there was a receiving area for the building, from there a short distance to the elevator. **** stated there would be no extra charge for distance from truck to apt because it didn't seem like more than the alloted 75 feet. However, when the truck arrived, ***** stated that he had to measure every foot from the truck to the apt. I don't have an issue with the concept, but I find it disingenuous that G***, with his many proud years of experience, was not aware of this for a Miami Beach bldg. and could have told me in advance. I then had to run to the bank to get more cash before I could get my cargo.
-I sent an email to **** and **** regarding these concerns and the pictures to prove my concerns, I got no response. I have no reason to believe they really care. Will they care about you after they have most of your money and you are at their mercy?
It could have been worse, but Sunrise lost this game due to their own lack of quality control. I had fears about hiring a company I didn't know but had little choice. Some of those fears were well-founded. Once the contract was signed and my cargo was picked up, Sunrise had all the power and I was taken advantage of with that power. I had to pay them the delivery fee or not even get my cargo to see if anything was damaged. I did get my things, in a timely manner, so I will give them that.
With these issues, how can I possibly provide a good review? I was very disappointed in promises made by Sunrise personnel regarding the quality of service. I see that some had a good experience but I couldn't comfortably hire them again.
