I had a checking account with ********************************************* for about 10 years, which had overdraft protection enabled. This summer, I transferred most of my money to a different bank, but accidentally left automatic billing for some of my services pointed to the Addition Financial account. In the span of a few weeks, my account balance went to -$499 due to a series of $35 overdraft fees. I was not notified of any of these overdrafts, and found out after logging in to online banking later. On the website there was no call-to-action asking me to resolve my account balance, or information about any consequences for not resolving my account balance. At a later date, I tried to log in to online banking to pay the balance, and found that my account was disabled. I was not warned that my account would be disabled, neither by phone, email, or physical mail. During this time period, the only communications I received from Addition Financial were marketing emails about new services. I cannot provide dates for many of these events, because I can no longer access my online banking history. To restore access, they have asked that I pay the balance (now $539.11) by sending a cashier's check or money order in the mail. I would like the total cost of the fees, the cashier's check, and the postage stamp ($544.84) credited to my account. I would also like Addition Financial to investigate their communication practices, to make this situation less likely in the future. And I would like Addition Financial to make banking records available to former members whose accounts have been closed, for audit purposes.
