I give this review 1 star because this complaint is not about the staff or Doctor. On my initial visit, after a thorough exam, a nice lady sat beside me and went over what was suggested that needed to be done. This was replacing two older crowns and an extensive "under gums" cleaning. The lady showed me the form with prices that my insurance would pay and my cost. At that time she stated "you have very good insurance". I said I was grateful for that. Over the next 3 visits I had the thorough cleaning, the old crowns removed and new ceramic crowns applied. I was told I needed to return in 3 months for another cleaning. I was use to every 6 months but said nothing. After the second appointment I was told I need to pay$396 and after the 3rd appointment I was told I had a balance of $620. When I questioned this, the billing person told me they had not received payment from my insurance but I would be refunded when I received any payment . After some time I received another bill for $883. Once again no payment from my insurance. I finally reached out to United Healthcare The Villages and was told if the office had notified them before treatment they would have found out that I was not covered for all these procedures in 2022. By they way, don't hold your breath hearing from any area manager to contact you.... It won't happen. So, if you have a medicare advantage insurance plan beware of Smile Design... Also, check out their ratings with the BBB. This is far from the first time this has happened. I am extremely disappointed. I had the same dentist for over 25 years and changed because of moving to another city. I felt very comfortable and confident with this practice. If your dental insurance allows $2000 or more, they are scheduling multiple appointments to use up the this balance. BEWARE. I will not be going back and have turned all my paperwork and this information over to my lawyer.
