We have had issues with our new roof and this company since it was put on in 2021. We have been more than patient while trying to come together and work with their warranty department on repairs over these past few years, but they are now "ghosting" us and no longer responding to emails or returning phone calls. We have had 18+ leaks since new roof was installed and have been through 3-4 different project managers that mysteriously disappear or no longer work for the company. We still have a tarp over our chimney that was put on during the summer and a leak that still needs to be repaired before the tarp can be permanently removed. We have a difficult roof that turned into a more complicated job, but this company has not been forthright in fixing the problem. Yes they sent out repair crews, but the repair work was done poorly and the problems kept returning so when asked to get a more thorough repair done is when we get the negative or no responses from them. We have pictures and documentation to show timeline of all the events that have occurred. We have been through mold inspections and still have a piece of interior baseboard missing and interior paint repairs to be done as well, but can't get those done until exterior repairs are done. At this point, we are now needing an entire new roof and chimney re-done and they are no longer responding to the most recent repair quotes sent to them in September , which is job abandonment. We are just simple people trying to keep a safe home for our family and ask that they would please make this right so we can both move on. I know some people have had great experiences with this company and maybe it's because they have easier roofs or live in areas where better crews are available, but if you have a more complicated roofing job then I would NOT recommend this company as they have proved to be unable to handle the job or they perform poor workmanship.Review from Robert E

We had our old roof torn off and a new one put on. My rep was Leo Horacio, he did an initial review of the roof and provided me with pictures of damage which convinced me to pursue a new roof and claim with insurance company. Leo provided good customer service. Answered all of my questions and made all the paperwork easy. During the job they spent extra time and resources to fix all unexpected issues. After the job Leo took time to review all of the work done and confirm no issues or remaining work needed with customer. The job was done quickly in 2 days. All work was done as initially scheduled. In the end the quality of the roof is much improved and looks better. I would recommend this company to others as I think they are a quality company.Review from Ryan D

This company was nothing but class and quality. Competitively priced and efficient. My rep was Nick Singleton and he did a fantastic job from start to finish. He made himself available night and day to answer questions and go over issues. They knocked the whole job out in 3 days and made the paperwork a breeze. I’ll never use another roofing company.Review from Elizabeth M.

The project manager was great to work with but the actual roofing job was poor. A solar panel company came to install panels and had to leave. They took pictures and video showing how my roof was sinking in when walked on. JA Edward said that they were jumping on it and that it was structure that they didn't have to do with. They did come back and fix one area but did not walk the roof. The inspector then found 2 other soft spots on my roof and JA Edwards is refusing to fix it. They say it would be like giving my house an upgrade. I'm unable to get insurance for my house because of this so I've been without insurance now for 4 months.JA Edwards of America, Inc. Response

We understand your concern and thank you bringing this potential issue to our attention. Upon you notifying the project manager assigned to your job of your concern, we agreed to cover the cost of the 4-Point inspection you requested. It was determined, that the said soft spot was from the new wood decking and spacing of the existing roof trusses. It is not unusual for roofs to have flex in them in one area or another. Photos of this area were taken by the inspector to verify that all new wood decking and fasteners were properly installed. The inspector also noted that he had a conversation with you discussing these issues at the time of the inspection. The 4-Point inspection and most importantly the roof portion was passed and should not impact roof insurability.
Please note that you also provided us with several videos of solar installers forcefully applying pressure on the area of new decking and that this is not recommended as it can cause permanent damage to the newly installed decking structure and shingle system. We are sure that the inspection will support that the job was completed properly. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your concern.Customer Response

Thank you so much for your response. The inspector your company provided did say it was a possibility that the 2 soft spots he found could be because of new wood, but it was not a confirmed fact. He did note that the inspection passed, as he thought that would allow my house to be able to have insurance, while still noting the soft spots. Because of those areas, my house has been uninsurable, even through the government. Insurance companies will not even consider to provide a quote. In reference to the video the solar panel company provided, it was taken from the interior of the attic while someone walked on the roof. There was no improper force. They lost money by reporting to a location where they would not be able to make an installation. Their pictures also showed damaged wood, which was thankfully fixed by your company. However, only the one spot was fixed and the rest of the roof was not checked and was left as is. I was hoping that what your inspector said was correct, that the soft spots were because of new wood. With this line of thinking, I just had my roof inspected last week, since it has been over 9 months. The new inspector found soft spots in many areas all over the roof. There's also flashing that was not replaced and possible rotting wood. My contact with JA Edward's said you do not work with the structure of the house. The inspector who came last week informed me of an ordinance that says I was to at least to be told about any structure concerns before the laying on of new tile, which I was not. At this point, my house has been without insurance for almost a year (through a couple hurricanes) because of this and I am seeking legal counsel. I appreciate your time in this matter.Review from Gary P

I had a new roof put on our house. It has been the worst bad decision I've made. I saw how nice and fast they did the neighbor house across the street . So I went with J A Edwards and nothing went right. They had aver small crew that started the roofing with no supervision at all failed inspection witch set the roofing back by a week. Then they sent one person to do the whole roof by himself that took 2 more days to finish. There was a spot in the roof they where to fix but did not. All the time there wasn't a supervisor so I've tried to have them fix the spot but will not do anything. Got a call to day and said they where going to put a lien on the house so I'm going to have to pay the billReview from Lisette B

Do not do business with JA Edwards!! They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced!! They had replaced our roof and we started having some problems with some water leaking through 2 1/2 years later. I contacted the company and was told that I was no longer under warranty since it was only good for 2 years. I proceeded to tell them that I have a neighbor next door that had their roof replaced with them at the same time and also had the same problem. After battling with them to get it fixed because he also was no longer under warranty, they finally admitted it was a workmanship issue and got it fixed for him. The customer service representative insisted there was nothing they could do and I asked to speak to a manager. After I kept insisting that they take a look at it, they finally sent someone to look at the roof. The person that they sent said it wasn't a workmanship issue but a problem with the stucco and they would not repair it unless we paid for it. He told us he would send us the scope of work but it would be approx. $3500 to fix it. We spent weeks waiting for it! I would call and leave messages to the customer service rep and manager and would not get a call back. I finally got a hold of the manager and she told me she was going to send it to me and never did. I finally spoke to another manager who sent the scope of work after waiting additional weeks but never returned my calls to get to a resolution (even though he said he would). In the meantime, I brought in 3 different roofing companies to take a look at the roof. All three said it was not a problem with the stucco but it was clearly a workmanship issue. They said we should not have had this problem with a 2 1/2 year roof! Apparently, there was even some debris that was carelessly left under some shingles! All three companies were surprised to hear they only had a 2 yr. warranty and said 5 years was the min. they had seen. Wanted to be treated with respect and fairness.JA Edwards of America, Inc. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. I am sorry the owner had such a negative experience. Upon review of the owner's job file I saw where she contacted our warranty department regarding a leak when her warranty had expired. There were several documented conversations regarding the stucco being a possible leak point and if that were found to be the case it would not be covered. I also found where there was an estimate from both the roofing repair contractor as mentioned above and one that was provided by the owner from a repair company she selected. After our warranty department reviewed the estimates, it was determined in the best interest of all parties to move forward with the estimate ($1727.15) and work provided by the company selected by the owner as an out of warranty good faith repair. It appears there was a breakdown in the communication as the repair was approved, but there was no other owner contact. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on her neighbor's home as I have no knowledge of that property location and the issue may seem similar, but may or may not be the same.
In response to the workmanship warranty, at the time of the original build the owner was provided with the industry standard 2-year workmanship warranty and it was outlined in her signed contract documents. The owner was also notified that her warranty was expiring and we provided her with an option to extend the warranty.
If the owner would contact me directly, Maia *******, Operations Manger, at our corporate office 407.677.7663, I would be more than happy to assist her with getting this issue resolved. We take all of our customer reviews very seriously and would like the opportunity to address her concerns so that this issue will not happen again to her or any other customer.
