Brothers Well Drilling Response
10/17/2022
Very simply the owner's existing submersible well pump was worn out, dated 1998 by the owner's admission, 24 years old worn out and needed to be replaced. In addition, they had some leak problems at the PVC pipes underground which needed to be repaired.
Instead, our office had multiple correspondents with the customer in which he told us he had a well issue for a over a week's time in which he had been "tinkering" with the well but could not resolve the problem. The client had replaced the existing bladder tank with a tank from ********** and had to return it. He removed a oil filled pressure gauge in which he thought the oil filled pressure gauge was full of water.
When analyzing a well problem, with multiple issues, such as the pump was constantly running and wouldn't build pressure over 40-45 psi, there are several factors that can cause this problem, such as holes in the drop pipe where the water would pump back in the well or the well pump could be an old and worn out.
The proper procedure is to pull and inspect both the drop pipe and well pump. The submersible well pump was pulled and found to be old and in rough condition. We then replaced the old submersible well pump with a new submersible well pump including new well components. In addition, we checked off each individual problem, we spent over an hour trying to locate visible leaks bubbling up in the yard. After replacing the pump, we checked to see if there were additional issues which would cause the well pump to continue to short cycle and can damage the pump. It was our recommendation to the customer to get a company that could locate leaks or get a leak detector so he could ultimately get his leaks repaired. The new well pump would build pressure to 60 psi and would shut off which it is designed to do. The old well pump would run continuously and would not build enough pressure over 40 - 45 psi to shut off. In this case, the customers well pump was worn out, the age of the pump which was told to us by owner's own admission was dated from 1998, 24 years old and had not been replaced. We explained to the customer that we do not dig for leaks underground or repair leaks, we suggested getting a irrigation specialist to make the repairs. The client then used inflammatory statements such as "we were crooks and never should have replaced the well pump" and "we took advantage of his family." All which were erroneous. After all of this, we offered in order to make the customer happy to put the used pump back in the ground even though we knew it was bad, and at no additional charge just to make him happy. The original price in which the customer agreed to was the labor to pull and replace the well pump. At that point the customer placed a STOP payment on his check . To prove our position, we then took the submersible well pump to a third party, well pump distributor a pump specialist. The pump specialist wrote a report, stating the bearings were worn out and obviously the pump would have locked up in a short period of time. The old pump would never have built up pressure designed what it should do, and shut off like a normal. The pump specialist diagnosed the pump, verifying the pump was bad.
We made the repairs on Monday, 10/3/22 the customer placed a STOP on payment on the check. Per our conversation with the customer who was traveling for business, he was not interested in discussion of the pump having been replaced. He only made threats and slanderous statements. Within two business days we had the old existing well pump inspected with a written report. And five days later, on Friday, 10/7/22, 5 days from the the original date of the work performed, the customer returned from out of town on business, he met with a representative from our company. All the specific details were reviewed and the customer was given the original copy of the well report from the pump distributor. The customer had already made up his mind that we had taken advantage of him in some way and that the well pump should have not have been replaced. Even by his own admission the pump was installed in 1998, 24 years old and would not build over 40-45psi.
The customer then agreed after reviewing all the information, agreed he would make his payment in full paid by credit card. We were very uneasy by accepting payment by credit card however the customer did give his written authorization for payment. We considered this issue as resolved. We feel we have been wrongfully slandered and accused of wrong doing. We have been in business for 20+ years, our history shows we are both honest and reputable.
