I made a prepaid rental car booking for September 10 through 24 September 2023 and was assigned to pick up the vehicle with **** at the airport. The total agreed amount of 520 charged was taken out of my account before the pick up date. On getting to **** counter on the pick up date, **** said there was no reservation for me, I show them the booking number from car rental 8, **** gave me a car at a very high rate costing me $1005.57 a ****** Sentra. I informed car rental 8 immediately and was told they will resolve it. I have sent several emails and phone calls without getting solutions. Very dissatisfied with this company. Up to this moment no resolution.Business response

Thank you for reaching out. It appears that the customer was incorrectly charged again at the **** rental counter for their prepaid rental. We have been trying to get the issue resolved with **** and sent the voucher over to them to apply and refund the customer. This should have been completed by now and the customer should see the refund directly from ****. We are sending another escalation to **** today asking for an update on the refund. In the meantime, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to the customer and the length of time this has taken to get resolved. On Oct 20th we booked a car on kayak.com with carrental8. The company accepted our reservation and charged my credit card. My wife and son flew to ******, ** and there was no car when they arrived. Called the company and they said it was sold out but did not say which company the car was with. The company did not try to find another car and made it hard to get a refund. I had threaten legal action and file a complaint to hopefully get my money back as they said. This company is a complete scam and should have their permita pulled!Business response

Thank you for reaching out and we are sorry that this rental did not work out for ****************** Unfortunately, the booking did not confirm with the supplier and was cancelled right away with a full refund that should have been received. Sometimes last minute bookings are tricky - with fleets being tight the vehicle was available when the booking process was started, however, the supplier subsequently sold out. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and rest assured a full refund in the amount of $236.67 was issued when the error was discovered in 10/21/2023.Initial Complaint

RESERVED and PAID in advance rental car with collision insurance as I requested, ****** plus ***** for collision insurance, paid in advance ****** charged to my credit card account got receipt paid in ******************* subcontracts car rental to Budget we get to ****** from ************ after a 2plus hour wait at budget terminal we were given a car(SUV) they ran out of cars!. we questioned signing the Budget Rental papers but was assured by the representative this was that we WAIVER THE $155.00 insurance costs because we already took insurance as well.Why am I doing paper work with Budget Car after I COMPLETED the transaction with *************** This is a CON JOB !I am not paying the !%%.00 insurance charge.Business response

Mr. ****** complaint was escalated to the supplier and we have been in contact with him with the outcome. The supplier has refunded the full $155.98 charge for unnecessary coverage charged, and we have refunded the customer $48 from our end as a gesture of goodwill. We sincerely apologize for the difficulties and inconvenience that Mr. **** experienced picking up his rental vehicle and the matter was escalated to the supplier's management team.Customer response

I made a reservation through car rental 8 for a vehicle and also purchased the insurance for $300. I then was referred to thrifty. Thrifty told me they did not have that vehicle that I reserved but had a similar one for the same price, except car rental 8 had only charged me for half the price of the rental. And they also mentioned the insurance sold to me was a scam. I was forced to pay another $300 in order to get the vehicle. Nobody answers the phone or emails from car rental 8. They are a scam.Business response

************** booked his car rental on our site and agreed to pay $333.53 for his 6 day rental of an intermediate SUV in *****. His prepayment included the rental, collision coverage and taxes & fees. His voucher was applied to the rental agreement, but unfortunately he was met with an overzealous rental agent who forced him to purchase unnecessary additional LDW at the rental counter. After escalating the situation to the supplier, they agreed to refund the customer $139.55 for this coverage. We understand this must have been frustrating for the customer and we are happy that the supplier agreed to issue this refund as the Rental Cover he purchased on our site was valid and covered the rental vehicle for any physical damage. ************** purchased some other options at the rental counter including a Child Seat @ $83.94USD and the Fuel Purchase option of $124.41USD.
We have offered the customer a $30 future credit from our end to use on his next rental and hope he will give us another try again in the future. An e-mail was sent to the customer informing him of the refund from Thrifty and the future credit.

Hello, I made booking a car and I made prepaid. I was going to rent a car from ******* airport(30 September) to *********** int airport(12 Oktober). But 29 September I got cancelled by company. They don't answer my email why it happens and what about refund.Business response

Unfortunately, ********************** rental was cancelled by our system due to certain fraud flags being raised and our inability to verify the validity of the renter due to a last minute booking. The phone number in the booking was not answered and there was no opportunity to leave voicemail to cause more concern. The credit card used was refunded in full when the booking cancelled. Unfortunately, fraud is a very serious issue going on and we have to take every precaution to guard against it. We do apologize for any inconvenience caused.Initial Complaint

We have reviewed this case and it seems that the customer was properly charged $29.89 cancellation fee as per the agreement. From reviewing the notes in the booking, it does seem that one of our newer agents incorrectly informed the customer of a $75 cancel fee (which is the normal cancellation fee if cancellation protection is not taken), but rest assured that the booking was cancelled with the correct $29.89 cancel fee and the customer is all set!Initial Complaint

Unfortunately, we are unable to locate and booking in our system under this customer's name and e-mail address provided. If you could provide the customer's booking #, we will be happy to research this further and see if any action can be taken. Normally there are no refunds for unused time as the supplier's bill for the total number of days booked once a rental is picked up. If the customer could also provide us with the reason for the early return, it would be appreciated so we can escalate this to the supplier and see if they will make an exception for a credit.Initial Complaint

Made a reservation via their website to have a rental ready for travel from ****** International Airport to **************** one direction. The pickup date was to be May 28th and we were informed we would be sent additional information when everything was confirmed as shown in file titled **** ****** We never received any further contact until well after we attempted to contact them. First by phone, then by email. These contact attempts were made after our flight landed as we then learned that we never received the info as was promised. The only info we got from them was a booking number used exclusively with their company that was no use to us as their website stated it didn't match the email provided. The only follow-up email received was 3 days later on May 31st and didn't help any as there was no need for the reservation by that point. The overall cost of the rental was US$155.60 which is requested to be returned along with a formal apology via both email and writing.Business response

Thank you for reaching out. We show that the confirmation e-mail was sent to the customer on May 26, 2023 when they booked their rental. We are sorry that they did not see the confirmation - perhaps it landed in their spam folder. We have verified that the rental did not pick up with the supplier and are now able to offer a full refund to the customer. A refund in the amount of $155.60 was issued to the customer today which they will see in the next few days as all credits do go through a process. 12:00PM Mon, Jul 31 2023 We were supposed to pick up a car at Dollar rental @ the ******************. We rented through this 3rd party app called Car Rental 8. We took the insurance and paid ***** for that the total rental was over ****** for one week. We got to the airport and they said we couldn't have the car without a credit card. We were not able to get he car and had to FIGHT to get a refund. The refund doesn't include the insurance for the vehicle. They refuse to give me a number for corporate and refuse to refund the ***** for the auto insurance. The transaction was NEVER complete and we never even seen the car. They are telling us that they can't refund the insurance because it's in their contract, that it's NOT refundable. So I just paid this scam company ***** for nothing! My step father had to take a week vacation to allow me to use his car to get to work for the week. (my car is in the shop) I have called, my step-father has also called. They just refuse to refund the money. They claim they don't have managers, or a corporate office to contact. To make matters worse the number online for their corporate office goes to a line where people refuse to allow you to speak to a person until you take this promotion for a ****** gift certificate. They REFUSED to allow me to bypass this step to speak to anyone. (It seemed like a complete scam). The booking number is ********. I called the Dollar rental place and filed a complaint but they said they can't refund the money either since we used the third party app and they didn't get any money during the transaction.Business response

First of all, we sincerely apologize for the delay in responding. Our team has been working hard to respond to our customers in a timely manner. It is unfortunate that ************** was not able to pick up her rental due to not having a credit card. We do strive for a transparent and problem free rental from beginning to end, and we do include the Supplier's requirements in the Terms & Conditions prior to check out as well as in the final confirmation and we are sorry if she missed this important information. The cancellation policy that was agreed to and posted prior to check out clearly stated that there are no refunds on or after the pickup date & time. However, we do understand things come up and we were able to refund the rental charge as a courtesy to the customer. As far as the ********************** Cover is concerned, unfortunately this must be cancelled prior to the pickup date as there is a billing to our company for the coverage. We have been billed as agreed by Rental Cover for this coverage, however, as a gesture of goodwill I have issued a refund today in the amount of $42 to the customer representing a 50% refund. We hope that ************** appreciates this gesture and again, we do regret that this rental did not work out for her.Customer response

Rented a car through their company from dollar rental and was told their were no cars available when I went to pick it up. They refused to give me a refund of $303 dollars. They are a shady company and have a horrible reputationBusiness response
