And trying to get people to come out and do anything was a waiting game. He's pretty much retired and doesn't seem to have many connections with subs.
Once Stephen B***** was paid that was the end of him doing anything further. That was another mistake I made. He told me it was Christmas and could I pay him the balance of what I owed him. Like a fool we did. Then he even tried to get us to hire someone else to finish what he started stating that it wasn't his responsibility to put things back the way they were before he started the job.
I tried to have a conversation with him and he hung the phone up on me.
Oh and did I mention...he charges 24% of whatever he does? I should have walked then but someone had recommended him. Shame on me for not going with my gut.
His wife does the decorating but she's not licensed and then of course Stephen will get 24% of whatever she suggest as well.
There are too many other contractors to choose from. Stay as far away from this man as you can.

Our contract with Mr. and Mrs. **** clearly defined the Scope of Work they intended us to perform - which we satisfied to the letter.
Scope of Work- BCH will open four front facing walls encompassing four windows on the 2nd and 3rd stories to determine if window surrounding wood is rotted. If we determine rotted wood is structural, we will replace the wood and engineer and design a structural solution. If we encounter rotted wood otherwise, we will replace it if accessible. If not accessible and does not present a compromise to structural integrity, we will not replace it. BCH will determine where, if any, leaks are located in the front facing walls and will repair any leaks found prior to replacing interior trim around leak area.
Our pricing arrangement is based on actual costs plus an additional 24% as builder fee. In addition to the agreed upon Scope of Work, Mrs. **** asked us to do several other tasks in her home, i.e., finishing and drywalling a beam in her garage, and burying a cable wire and drywalling over that. Then she asked us to help get her front balcony repaired. We called on our roofing and exterior trim (columns) subcontractors to do the work which they promptly did. We did not include this work as part of our Cost-Plus arrangement, again as a courtesy to our clients, Mr. and Mrs. ****.
After fixing the rotted wood and leaks, we framed the window openings with measurements given us by the window company. With the new windows in, Mrs. **** stated her existing blinds would not fit and let us know she had to pay $350 for new blinds. As a professional courtesy, we then sent her a check to cover the cost of new blinds.
Our work started September 8, 2021, and we did not ask for or receive our fee until December 8, 2021. By that time all the contracted work had been completed and all the extra work except for new columns installation on her front balcony.
Mrs. **** mentioned my wife in a negative tone in her complaint. My wife provides our interior design service free of charge if a client wishes to work with our company. She is not a licensed decorator which she always discloses to the client up front. Her work speaks for itself, and our clients are very happy to work with her. While completing our contracted work, Mrs. **** was interested in working with her to remodel two bathrooms. My wife spent roughly 15 hours sketching possible designs, picking up tile samples and meeting with Mrs. **** for which no compensation was received. When I gave Mrs. **** a ballpark number for remodeling her bathrooms, she opted not to have us do the work. She then went to our interior trim subcontractor and asked him to do the work which he declined.
On February 7, 2022, Mrs. **** asked me to rent a lift and replace the balcony awning which our Superintendent had removed for her. Knowing her painter would be on site to finish painting, I asked her to ask her painter to do this for her. She clearly didn't like that response and began to raise her voice at me at which point I hung up the phone. I realize now, it was an overreaction on both our parts, which, unfortunately, damaged what had been up to that point, a very friendly relationship.

Mr B***** forgot to mention that in addition to opening walls in four of our rooms, His step son also completely destroyed our two front decks and removed a tall awning for which they had to use a crane to remove. So his scope of work was much, much greater than four walls. But he said he put our walls back together but mentioned nothing about putting our decks back together.
He did do other small jobs for us during the process which he was promptly paid. for. I never told he or his wife that I would not use them for our bathroom as I had not even made a decision yet at that point because I wanted to finish with the first job he started. The carpenter Mr B***** used came to our house to repair unfinished work that Mr B***** failed to do. I paid the Carpenter for this which should have been Mr B***** paying.
The blinds he talks about is because he failed to mention to the carpenter that we had blinds that his step son had removed and then the carpenter built the frame in such a way that our blinds no longer fit. So yes Mr B*****, you should have paid for the blinds. Please don't act like you are a professional who does everything on the up and up when clearly your reviews say otherwise. I'm only sorry I did not read your reviews before hiring you.
