Business ProfileforWelsh Corgi Puppies Home
Additional business information
We received a submission in BBB's Scam Tracker regarding the marketplace practices of Welsh Corgi Puppies Home.
Specifically, the consumer alleged that they had paid $900 for a puppy that would be dropped off at the airport. They were then contacted by the company and told they needed to pay an additional $1,490 before the plane left.
Further instructions were to go to CVS and purchase a Money Gram so the puppy could be in an air conditioned crate and the proper vaccines and permits could be provided. After following all instructions, the puppy was never sent and the consumer was unable to retrieve any money.
BBB asked Welsh Corgi Puppies Home to respond to the consumer's allegations. The company did not respond.
So that BBB may provide the most transparent and accurate information to consumer inquiries on Welsh Corgi Puppies Home, we sent our Standard Business Questionnaire for their completion and return. Also requested were copies of any written agreements, contracts, literature, brochures and marketing materials used by this firm.
The address we have on file for Welsh Corgi Puppies Home is a residential home. BBB requested the physical address for their firm.
BBB was not able to locate a breeder's license for this firm in the state of Georgia and requested Welsh Corgi Puppies Home to provide their license number.
Welsh Corgi Puppies Home did not respond to any of BBB's requests.
Information received in BBB's Scam Tracker alleges that after money is paid in advance for a puppy, the company will require additional money for shipping and/or insurance fees. The money is asked to be sent using Western Union or Money Gram. Once the money has been sent, and the consumer decides to not make any further payments, the company does not send the puppy and consumers lose all money previously sent.
BBB checked with Georgia's Department of Agriculture and determined that this firm does not have a license to sell or bred animals in the state.

BBB provides the following tips when searching online for a pet:
Research any business and its owners carefully before paying any money. Check the company's BBB Business Profile at bbb.org.
If possible, try to pick up the puppy in person. Puppy scams depend on buyers trusting that the animals will be delivered to them.
Be careful about buying a puppy from anyone you don't know, and be especially skeptical if the price is much lower than normal.
Avoid wiring money or using prepaid cards or gift cards to pay for transporting animals. Instead pay by credit card in case you need to challenge the purchase later.
Research pet adoption requirements in your area. Get a good grasp on what fees, permits and licenses are required by your local government and know whether they should be collected by the seller or government.
Consider getting a rescue dog if having a purebred dog is not a priority. Generally, rescues are less expensive than purebred pets and often have fewer health problems.
