I purchased a small roller toolbox back in 2020. Paid it off. But I was still getting charged for a toolbox. I reached out via email and asked what was going on with my account. I was told I owe 6000 or so on my toolbox. I disputed the claim through snapon. Asked for copies of the contract. Come to find it wasn't my signature on the contract. I provided snapon with a copy of my license and a closeup of my signature along with written signature on paper. Never heard from them again but they are still reporting false information on my credit.Business response

To whom it may concern,
I write on behalf of Snap-on Credit (SOC) in response to the complaint lodged by Mr. ************* I note at the outset that Mr. ****** is not a consumer; rather, Mr. ****** warrantied that the goods whose purchase he financed with SOC were for use in his work as an auto mechanic/technician and would be used primarily for business/commercial purposes, not for personal, family, or household purposes.
More importantly, Mr. ******* claim of identity theft is somewhat difficult to take seriously. This is because he purchased the product in July of 2021 and made payments to SOC through September 2022. When he purchased the product, an SOC associate contacted him to verify that he signed the contract and had received all the product listed thereon. He affirmed that he signed the contact and received the product.
At one point in mid 2022, around the time he stopped making payments on the account, Mr. ****** informed SOC that he was going to file a bankruptcy petition, but he did not provide any information regarding the attorney who would be representing him. To the best of SOCs knowledge, no bankruptcy proceeding has ever been commenced. Regardless, by informing SOC that he was going to resolve the default issue in a bankruptcy proceeding, Mr. ****** is, in effect, admitting that the obligation is his..
When Mr. ****** first made SOC aware of his claim of identity theft (in June 2024), SOC sent him an FTC Identity Theft Report and asked him to complete the form and return it and the required supporting materials to SOC so that SOC could investigate the matter. More specifically, the form requested that Mr. ****** provide a police report and a complete, legible copy of his drivers license. *************** returned was a document that did not set forth, among other things, when the identity theft took place, how it took place, and whether he reported the matter to the police. Moreover, Mr. ****** did not provide a police report. While he did provide a copy of his drivers license, the signature thereon cannot be read or matched against any copy of his signature SOC has on file.
SOC will report to the credit reporting agencies that the matter is disputed, but beyond that, unless and until Mr. ****** returned a complete FTC Identity Theft Packet and the supporting materials discussed above,SOC will be unable to confirm that he is a victim of identity theft.
Regards,
Snap-on Credit LLC

I am rejecting this response because: the box i purchased (in the picture) is not a 6000 box. I did sign a contract. For the roller box. Not for the box in the contract. It was used for work at the time. There was also an *** report made. See attached. Please provide copies of contracts and verify MY signature. But of course you can't because it wasn't my signature. I paid my box off. Please provide proof I purchased more than a roller cart.

To whom it may concern,
I write, again, on behalf of Snap-on Credit in response to Mr. ******** rejection of my earlier response. In short, Mr. ******** rejection does not address the issues I raised in my initial response and the attachments are of no value to resolving the matter.
More specifically, the *** document "completed" by Mr. ****** did not contain the supporting materials necessary to investigate the claim of ID theft (no police report, no discussion of when or how the identity theft took place, and no legible copy of his driver's license). Additionally, his rejection does not address the fact that, upon purchase of the product at issue, he confirmed to a Snap-on Credit associate that he signed the contract and received the product. And those facts would appear to be accurate in light of the fact that Mr. ****** proposed to resolve the matter by filing a bankruptcy petition. His rejection is simply bereft of information refuting the facts as I set forth in my initial response as well as facts that further detail the alleged identity theft.
Accordingly, Snap-on Credit will report to the credit reporting agencies that the matter is disputed, but beyond that, unless and until Mr. ****** provides a complete *** Identity Theft Packet AND the supporting materials discussed above, SOC will be unable to confirm that he is a victim of an alleged identity theft.

On Monday April 8th, I walked onto the Snap on truck @ *********** and Fleet in ******* in hopes of buying a tool box for my garage. I don't have a driver, I figured this was my best opportunity to buy one (since I didn't want to go second hand or used, wanted to establish a relationship with a franchisee, and retaining the warranty. Upon requesting a price for the box, I was informed if I financed a portion of it I would have 0% interest for a certain amount of months, and could save some money on the box. All the franchisee needed was my social so he could see my pre-approval amount. I asked him more than 5 times - Will this go on my credit report? What kind of inquiry is this? And other basic questions because I made it clear I was NOT willing to participate if it was anything more than a soft inquiry. He reassured me this will have NO affect on my credit score, will not go on my credit report, is only for Snap on internally, and I will not see it anywhere else. However, after months of bad credit and a hard time getting a loan, I come to find it was a hard inquiry reported on my credit report. I pulled a credit report from Credit Karma and it was on there!! I NEVER authorized the use of my credit being pulled and was lied to and deceived. I would have never authorized such a thing as I informed the driver I was a cash buyer, not interested in payments, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY DID NOT AUTHORIZE MY CREDIT BEING PULLED!!! I did not authorize use or pulling of my credit, and this has had detrimental impact in my credit score, ability to obtain a home loan, and I was lied to. I demand this be removed and Snap on remedy the situation. This is beyond unacceptable, criminal, a breach of trust, and involves many legality concerns.Business response

To whom it may concern,
I write in response to the complaint lodged by Mr. ******* ***. After reviewing the matter, SOC has determined that it will ask the credit reporting agency to mask the credit inquiry about which he speaks. That said, I would also note that Mr. **** in the written application he submitted to Snap-on Credit, specifically authorized a credit inquiry in the section of the application immediately above his signature. His statements to the contrary are simply inaccurate.

To whom it may concern,
I write in response to the complaint lodged by **************** against Snap-on Credit LLC. **************** is correct - he breached his contractual obligations to Snap-on Credit but not so long ago as to take the breach outside the statute of limitation or the time limit on which matters like this can be reported to the credit reporting agencies. To whom it may concern,
I write on behalf of Snap-on Credit ("SOC") in response to the BBB complaint lodged by ****************. I note at the outset that **************** is not a consumer as that term is commonly used; rather, the product he financed via Snap-on Credit was purchased for use in his business as a mechanic/technician and not for personal, family, or household purposes.
Next, and more pertinently, I note that **************** does not identify any particular inaccuracy in the tradeline for Snap-on Credit to correct or modify on his credit report. That said, I would also note that ******************** claim that he is entitled to financial privacy to the point that SOC cannot report defaults under the contract is incorrect; rather, ************** was notified upon his first default under the terms of the contract that that default and subsequent defaults would be reported to the credit reporting agencies.
Finally, it is difficult to accept this complaint at face value given that, on the same day this complaint was lodged, *** also received an ACDV from one of the credit reporting agencies that **************** was claiming to be the victim of identity theft, a claim he does not repeat here. In response thereto, *** has sent correspondence to **************** indicating what information SOC needs to investigate the ** theft claim.

To whom it may concern,
I write on behalf of Snap-on Credit LLC ("SOC") in response to the complaint lodged by **************. I note at the outset that ************** is not a consumer as that term is commonly used. This is because the tool storage box he financed via a SOC installment contract contained two (2) warranties from ************** indicating that he would use the box in his work as a mechanic technician and not for personal, family, or household purposes. additionally, and as a consequence of the commercial nature of the contractual nature of his relationship with SOC, ************** is not protected by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, meaning that SOC is not under a legal obligation to provide him with a copy of any particular document. Regardless, ************** was provided with a copy of the contract when he signed it, on or about October 4, 2022.
That said, and turning to the substance of his complaint, ************** defaulted on his contractual obligation to SOC and as a result, the storage box was recovered. The value of the box was less than what ******************* (and he was informed of same via a letter from SOC dated on or about August 29, 2023. A deficiency balance remains due and owing to SOC. Furthermore, SOC has not sold the obligation to a third-party debt collector; rather, the money owed by ************** remains due and owing to SOC. Truth and lending act, exceeding predatory loan practices, using a variety of terminology and forms of lending that manipulate borrowers. And extensions of credit you stated your associates will help me with. Extension of credit means:. The right to defer payments of debt or to incur debt and defer it's payments offered or granted primarily for Personal, family or household purposes. Well here we are, in not a consumer, why are you offering me consumer extension of credit.? On $24,354.29 in tools. I've paid already $36,289.00 and $18,941.21 was finance charges.

To whom it may concern,
I write in response to ************************ reply to Snap-on Credit's initial response to his complaint. I apologize for the mixup in responses. That said, the rest of ************************ reply is inaccurate as a matter of fact and law. As I stated previously, ******************** is not a consumer as that term is most commonly used at law; rather, he is a commercial user of Snap-on Tools' products as evidenced by the warranty to that effect in each and every of the 15 contracts he signed. While he is able to use the tools for his own personal use, the contracts contain a warranty from ******************** that the primary use of the tools would be for commercial purposes (for use in his work as a mechanic or technician) and not for personal, family, or household purposes.
Secondly, while I am not going to verify ************************ math, I can report that the finance charge he agreed to was far less than the state maximum, so ******************** has not been charged an unlawful rate of interest. If he would like to discuss a reduction in the finance charge, he is free to contact us to discuss same.

To whom it may concern,
I write in response to ****************** latest missive. What his note makes clear is that he has confused his contractual obligation to Snap-on Credit with his monetary obligation to pay the Snap-on Franchisee or other sales representative from whom he has also purchased tools. Snap-on Franchisees are independent business owners and they sell tools off their trucks to customers without using Snap-on Credit credit products to complete the sale. ************** owes both Snap-on Credit and the franchisee/sales representative.
In fact, the attached text message screen shots make that clear. More specifically, in image 0677, ************** clearly acknowledges he owes Snap-on Credit money but does not (so he claims) owe the Franchisee any money. Accordingly, I think that admission makes his original claim erroneous (to be polite) and should bring this matter to an end.
