I am filing this complaint against Discover due to their egregious mishandling of a dispute regarding a transaction with a merchant. As a cardholder of over 17 years, I am profoundly disappointed by Discovers failure to uphold its obligations to me under both federal law and the Cardmember Agreement.Summary:I disputed a charge with Discover after the merchant failed to fulfill the terms of the transaction. I provided extensive documentation supporting my claim, which Discover initially reviewed and accepted. The merchant subsequently communicated that they are issuing a refund. However, despite this confirmation, a refund did not appear. What did post was a rebilling of the disputed amount, as Discover subsequently reversed its position without clear justification, stating that I would need to address the issue directly with the merchantunlawfully contradicting their earlier assurance and placing an undue burden on me as the consumer.Violation of Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA): Discovers actions are inconsistent with its responsibilities under the **** which mandates that credit card issuers protect consumers from erroneous charges, especially when the merchant fails to deliver as promised. Discovers abrupt reversal, despite sufficient documentation, and their continued willful ignorance of the evidence demonstrates an unethical disregard for both federal consumer protections and Discovers contractual obligations.This has caused significant frustration and has undermined my confidence in Discovers commitment to customer protection and fair dealing. *********************** failure to resolve this dispute in good faith is a clear breach of trust and suggests inadequate adherence to consumer protection standards.
