Told me they didn't like working for cell companies and wanted more than normal on top of being paid up front. I said that wasn't an issue being charged to a corporate cc, but never got a call back. EDIT: Called back after no return call and the owner answered. He was one of the worst business owners I've ever talked to. I absolutely would not recommend doing business here ever. He blamed the not returning calls on the fact of they receive "hundreds of voice mails and don't call back all of them." Told him I'd be happy to pull the original review if we could just get service, but was accused of blackmail. Thanks, but no thanks. Also recorded the call without my knowledge and posted to YouTube.

    Horseshoe Lock & Key Response

The phone call this person is referring to includes him calling me, the owner, an "A**hole" and telling me to "F*** off" after I politely offered another locksmith's phone number to him as we will not be blackmailed into accepting his terms. It is noteworthy that he left three other locksmiths in the area negative reviews within hours of leaving the one for us because they had full voicemails or because they did not call him back fast enough. He did eventually leave a positive review for the one locksmith who completed this job for him. That locksmith charged next to nothing for it, presumably out of fear of becoming the next target for online harassment.

    Customer Response

At this point I feel harassed by this business owner as he has tried to make me look bad by posting our interaction on youtube after recording our second call. I should not have to defend why I leave reviews on the business that I have had interactions with. Reviews are here so that other potential customers know that I went through a bad interaction with that business. Of the business I review I don’t always leave a bad review, and this is the first time that I have ever had this bad of an interaction with a business ever. I feel like a locksmith should be a trusted emergency service. Typically if someone is locked out, they are needing in fast. That was not the case here, but Paul never knew that. He will not post the original call I had with his dispatch. This is not the first door I’ve had unlocked. I have not yet paid over 200 unless a secure latch needed completely replaced. The service call fee for the two locksmiths that completed the work at two sites, in two cities, charged 125 for the service charge plus parts and labor. One city was over 700 due to the entire knob needing replaced, the other was less than 200 due to only needing drilled out and the core of the lock replaced. Both of those businesses received a 5 star review for completing the work. The other businesses that I left 1 star reviews at are as follows. The first 1 star went to a business that answered my call back in March. He stated it would be evening time and he would call with an invoice late or the next day. No call. Around a week later, he called back saying sorry, had an emergency come up and asked if I still needed the work done. I said yes and never heard back from him. Then on Monday 5/8 around 8:45 am, I called Horseshoe, and a company in the other city. Neither company called back. On Thursday 5/11 a little after 9 am I called Horseshoe and got dispatch. I explained that I had a locked shelter that needed new keys made, dispatch said he would call the boss and get back with me letting me know when someone could be there. The company in KC I left another voicemail with no response. And called a second company in the second city that answered and dispatched in less than an hour. Horseshoe called back shortly after and said that he would prefer to decline the work due to the fact that he had worked with a telco company in the past that had not paid him, but if I needed the work done I would have to pay upfront and it would be $300 minimum. I stated that it seemed high and his dispatcher agreed. This was the “issue” with the price. His dispatcher asked a few questions and said he would call Paul and ask a couple things about it and why 300 and would call me back. This was before 10 AM I believe. Never heard anything back about if he would do the work or not. At 3 pm I called around to all other locksmiths located in the city and one had a full VM. They received a 1 star because a locksmith should answer or at least have an alternate number in my opinion. All others referred me back to Horseshoe as they only worked on cars. There aren’t many options in Manhattan. So I started leaving the reviews. I started with a 1 at the first business that called back twice. Left one on the KC business that didn’t call back. Left 1 with the full VM. And left a 1 with Horseshoe. At 3 PM I called back and spoke with Paul which is where the recording came from. I had no idea that he had ever planned on performing work for me, and he had already dispatched but was going to decline the work. That is why I got frustrated and cussed at him at the end of the call. He can provide the Link if not available in other comments. I am done with this business at this point, and can not believe an owner would rather try to make someone look bad, than to try and rectify the situation. I offered to pull the review even after he still wanted to overcharge me. Price never really mattered, I just wanted to know why it would be so expensive. I have even apologized for cussing at him over messenger.
