I dropped my car off for an oil change. When I picked it up, it was louder than before I dropped it off. A few years ago, a garage had failed to close the air filter box after checking filter which caused noise, and they simply closed filter box when I took it back which fixed issue. I called ******e back and explained what I heard and previous experience. I took car back to ******e and they checked filter box and said it was closed properly and not a problem. I eventually took the car took the mechanic who we have used to work on any significant issues, and he said filter box was broken and could no longer close properly. I went back to ******e and told him what he said. The technician looked at car in parking lot and rode about a mile with me. I told him it was much louder than before, but he told me it wasn’t filter box and wanted to check exhaust system if I could bring it back at a later time. I finally took the car back to our previous mechanic who ordered and installed a new filter box which alleviated the noise, seeming loss of power, and less mpg. The cost of the repair was $480.22 which I believe ******e should reimburse.

I talked to my Tech that worked on the vehicle and he remembered this customer. He said the customer stated that this happened before at another shop, and the air box was not snapped down properly. The tech said he checked the air box, and it was snapped down correctly and did not notice it being broken. The tech said it sounded like exhaust.

The only thing we did for ****** was an oil change, He has had multiple people work on his vehicle.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The bottom line is that there was no problem with the car when I brought it in for an oil change, and there was an issue that I alerted them to immediately after the oil change.  The occurrence with the filter box being left open before occurred a couple of years ago and was fixed by simply snapping it shut.  It had not been an issue since.   The only reason I thought it might be the case again was that it sounded similar. The fact that he did not “notice” it speaks for itself, especially after I took at back and told them what the problem was.  Another mechanic found the problem almost immediately, and then fixed it by replacing the filter box, after ******e said that wasn’t the issue for the second time.  He said there’s no way they should have missed it, especially when they were told what the problem was.

here is picture of part that was removed.  Obviously, this is why it couldn’t close properly.  I have been honest and given you all the information.  At this point, you are either stonewalling or calling me a liar.  As we discussed in our original conversation, I’m sure it was a mistake, and I made your  location aware immediately and gave them every chance to fix it.  They either didn’t want to admit they had broken it, neglected to really check it, or didn’t want to bother with it.  This issue needs to be resolved.  Either you can reimburse me for the repair, or you can reject this claim, and I will see if there are any other remedies.

I am rejecting this response because:

Obviously, this picture and my statement of the facts is the only proof I can offer.  I did not stand next to your technicians while they did the oil change (I don’t think that is allowed), so you are asking for something that is not possible.  If there had been a problem with my car other than just needing an oil change (which I believe is the simplest task in auto care) I would have taken it to my regular mechanic.  I only came to your location for convenience (store hours).

Received a grant from **** to fix my vehicle. I took my vehicle to MEINEKE at 1400 n Dixie hwy in Elizabethtown. One I received a call saying they can no longer do anything to my vehicle and so I had to pay to get it towed home and upon inspecting they tore my gear shift apart and my vehicle is in absolute worst shape than when I put it in the shop. They denied doing things that caused it to mess up. Now my vehicle is tore apart and won't run and they won't take responsibility for it.

Had car towed in for no start 8/1/24 we warrantied the battery due to bad cell, it was noticed at that time the customer had someone else look at it before us. After further diagnostics we found that the vehicle had issues with security system. The codes found was for a skim key issue, spoke to ***** *******n and explained what was going on. He said to send to dealership for further repairs.

I paid 1,089.32 for these services to fix my vehicle, as soon as I picked my vehicle up I immediately noticed if was running different and I never had this problem before the service, this happened over the weekend so I had to wait and take it back and I did not drive my vehicle so that I did not further mess it up, once I returned they informed me that I had somehow ( over the two day period) further messed up my car and needed an additional 900 dollars worth of work done, I used a credit card through the company so I was using borrowed money, this is completely unacceptable!!!

I had the customer send me a receipt of the other shop that replaced 1 spark plug. The charged her $115, I offered to pay for that and i noticed when she had it at our shop it had lean codes. I offered to do a free diagnostic that cost $160, and told her i would give her a discount for whatever repairs it needed and if the repair doesn't cost too much i might even do it for free. She said she would call me back and i have not heard from her yet. I talked to her on Wednesday 8/14/2024.

My wife and I have taken our vehicles to this Meineke location twice in the past 6 months. About 6 months ago, I took our car to this Meineke location just needing 1 new tire. They did an inspection that I didn't ask for and came back with a list of repairs our car allegedly needed that was going to cost about $600. I promptly took my key back and took to another place where I got my 1 tire without any need for anything else. This morning, my wife decided to take our other car to this Meineke location for new front brake pads and rotors. She texted me that they said our car needed new calipers to go along with the brake pads and rotors and it would cost $750. I promptly called another place for an appointment and told my wife to leave Meineke. The other place said the calipers were fine and did the brake job for a little over $300. I have seen reviews of other people who have had similar experience as my wife and I at this Meineke location. It is clear that this Meineke location is in the business of overcharging and scamming people out of money for repairs not needed. Someone needs to investigate them.

I am not sure why the customer is upset. I tried calling and texting and the customer has not responded.

I attached ****** ********* invoice. She came in asking how much brakes cost, the manager offered her a free brake inspection, she declined and said she just needed a price. The manager walked out to her vehicle and noticed one side had more fiction material on the brake pad then the other side. He told ****** we need to do a brake inspection because she could have a brake caliper issue due to the difference in friction material on the brake pads. ****** agreed and we pulled the vehicle in and started the brake inspection and before we were done, she asked us to pull the vehicle out because where she bought the vehicle is going to fix her brakes for free. She seemed fine, and the manager told her he understands because if he could get it done for free, he would too.

I attached the inspection on ****** vehicle that we performed over a year ago, Not understanding why he is complaining. We have pictures of everything we recommend and why.

I am rejecting this response because: it is a bunch of lies. Never got this so called inspection when I was there. Also, my wife didn't say anything about getting the  job done for free anywhere. The business said I had to pay for all the so called repairs or nothing, even though all I needed was 1 tire. They told my wife that calipers were needed without a thorough inspection. I don't accept lies from this business.

This was 4 years ago when we did the repairs. Our warranty is 12 month or 12,000 miles. She is 3 years out of warranty.

The last time we heard from was about 6 months to a year ago with her was her demanding money back. We explained we need to look at it and that's when she informed us, she did not have the vehicle. I then explain to her the vehicle is out of warranty due to the years and but there is nothing we can do since she does not have the vehicle. She even attached the warranty paper we gave her and it even states "itemized on your receipt are warranted for a period of 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first."

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I did contact Meineke within two months while my vehicle was sitting at my home address broken. I was in the process of looking for another vehicle. Please understand that I had no transportation at all. I was calling a Cab for transportation, which is very expensive especially if they have to wait on you when going shopping. I was told by them that they would only look at the vehicle if I agreed to pay them additional dollars. So I walked out of their establishment. But I decided to go to the Louisville location where the actual work was performed. (Sealing all of the oil leaks).  And I asked them to fix it and again I got rejected. There was more than enough time within the warranty for them to repair the vehicle when it was in my possession but right now since I do not have the vehicle because of the long wait time. Due mostly because my lawyer at ****** *** ****** held on to the paperwork without doing anything at all toward resolving the issue. I need cash reimbursement or refund because of the cost of all the repairs which I paid in Advance. And that’s why the Louisville location did not charge me anything to seal all of the oil leaks because of the extravagant amount of money that I had paid at the Radcliff location , and they even made a note of that on a receipt of no payment was needed.
I can be contacted at this number to resolve this issue. ************

12/22/22 Meineke replaced brake pads, brake lines, calipers, right r rotor, right r hydraulic hose & right r reman caliper totalling $1005.03.5/9/23 They again replaced the rotor, reman caliper & brake hydraulic hose. I was again charged for both parts and labor, $396.10,on the receipt I later noticed it says parts and services warranted for 12 mths/12000 miles neither of which had been met.3 weeks ago noticed the vehicle was leaking brake fluid, rather than return to this same place, went to a different shop who said it needed everyhting meineke claimed to have fixed 12/22 and again 5/23. Before I had this mechanic proceed I called meineke and spoke with ***** on 1/12. Stated he was the manager and that another manager was also named *****, he would relay all info to him since he'd be the 1 in on Sat.Took car in Fri & the 1st ***** ******** I believe)could not understand why I was charged for same things on 5/9/23. Kept saying that should not have happened & they put the wrong parts on the 1st time,2nd time only replaced part of the incorrect parts.Said they would correct the issue at no cost & refund $396.10. He was unable to refund due to new system since I paid. Said I would receive check by mail w/in 3-5 days & car would be ready next day.Heard nothing on 1/13.Called on Mon 1/15 and spoke to the other manager, *****(believe ********* told me wrong parts were not used and could only refund $112.22 & quoted me several hundred to correct the problem. Was not paying them to not fix the issues again.Went to pick my car up,when I went in he said they would actually refund $180 by mail.Took car to get properly fixed at another shop, now I've paid for the same repairs 3x due to meineke charging me 2x and never actually fixing the issues.Just called meineke since we have yet to receive their partial refund,it's been almost 2 weeks.Feel I am owed a complete refund from both times I had to pay since the work wasn't done properly and that was spoken from their own manager.

We are not sure why he turned this into the BBB. We already refunded him the warranty work that he was charged.

The original repairs were done on 12/22/2022 and they were the correct parts.

On 5/8/2023 Steven came back, and we did have a faulty caliper and we replaced it under warranty at no charge and we did charge him $184.58 for the brake rotor which I don't think we should have because of the faulty caliper is what damaged the brake rotor.

      We refunded him the $184.58.

This was submitted for all of the info given in the original complaint as well as while I was told I would receive this partial refund I have yet to recieve any sort of refund from Meineke.  In addition I feel a full refund is owed due to the fact that I not only paid meineke 2x for work to not be completed properly but then when I brought back to them earlier this month and the ***** that was working on Fri. 1/12 told me I would recieve a refund of $396.10 and his words that the wrong parts were used both the 1st and 2nd time, that you all would now repair it all at no cost but then on Mon. 1/15 a different ***** said a much lower amount would be refunded and told me I would have to pay for the same repairs a 3rd time. I was not paying meineke 3x for the same things when it wasn't fixed properly the first 2x.

On 7/12/23, our **** ******* ****** was serviced at this location. Among other services performed, the front brake pads were removed and replaced. We paid a total of $1377.01 at the time of service, including $188.03 for the brake pad removal and replacement. On 11/27/23 I had the oil changed at a different, unrelated service station. On 11/28/23 I noticed that an unusual noise I had been hearing while driving my car was much louder. Since I had just had the oil changed, I returned to the second service station to see if the noise was due to anything they noticed. Later that day they were able to identify that the right front brake was missing a caliper bolt and that the second caliper bolt was loose. Since this is a potentially catastrophic issue, I had this second service station replace the missing bolt and tighten the remaining bolt. This was a dangerous situation which should not have occurred. I contacted the corporate headquarters by email on 12/26/23. They returned my email and told me that any resolution had to come from the local shop. The shop manager told me he made a report on 1/8/24. I heard nothing from them until I called back on 1/15/24. At this time I was told they would offer me three free oil changes at any of their locations. I do not trust this company with my vehicles now or in the future. I am requesting a refund on the front brakes only, which I feel is reasonable given the severity of this situation. Since they are not able to work with me or provide me with any further contact information, I am reporting this at this time.

We did ******** brakes on July 12, 2023, and the mileage was 63,631. But we did more than just the front brakes, we also did the rear pads and rotors and Valve cover gaskets, Spark Plugs, Oil Change, Fuel induction Serice and a Brake Flush.

****** brought the vehicle back on Oct 25, 2023, and the mileage was 66,372. Her complaint was (Struggling to start. Waited 20 min and then car started, Steering feels like it is getting intermittently stiff) This is 2,741 miles after we did the brake service and she did not complain about any brake issues, which if a bolt was left loose, it would make some really bad noises. We recommended replacing the Alternator, Battery because they tested bad and also a s-belt. ****** declines the services.

This means someone else is working on her vehicle and who ever supposal fixed it did not charge her or really any proof of a bolt been left loose, we offered her 3 free oil changes because she did spend money with us.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I did not see the need to include these details in my initial report, but since the business's response mentioned other mechanics working on the car, I have included the ****** report for our car. The only thing not shown is the replacement for the missing caliper bolt, which was replaced by ***** **** on 11/29/23 for no charge.

In October, we took the car to Meineke because it was having terrible starting.  We did not mention the noises we had been hearing because we did not have money for anything that wasn't keeping the car running or basic maintenance at that point.

Meineke told us the alternator, s-belt, and battery were bad. This information is included in Meineke's response to my complaint. They also told us we needed new spark plugs, even though they had replaced those in July.

We took the car to ******* ************ because they accepted our car's warranty, which we thought would cover these issues. Cottman replaced the battery and examined the alternator and the s-belt and found no problems with them at all. There have been no problems with the alternator or s-belt since then.

I do not accept the free oil changes because they either missed putting in a caliper bolt or left it loose enough that it dislodged. No one else examined or performed work on the brakes between the work by Meineke in July and the ***** **** mechanic on November 29th when the bolt was discovered to be missing. I would still like the price of the brakes refunded.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: The caliper bolt was replaced for free by a mechanic at ***** **** who didn't want to see me drive off in a dangerous state. He did me a kind favor. The proof is the picture of the place where the caliper bolt should have been (included in my original complaint.) The mechanic took the picture at that time and sent it to me.

Since this has happened, I have done research into caliper bolts. In less than five months and fewer than 5000 miles, a properly installed caliper bolt should not come loose. The brakes were not touched by anyone between July when Meineke replaced them and November when the missing caliper bolt was discovered. The only conclusion I can come to is that it installed improperly and worked loose in the meantime.

I have also shown that this Meineke is willing to quote for things that did not need to be fixed on my car. (This is based on the quote given on 10.25.24 that was referenced in the initial business response and the receipt from ******* ************ for a battery replacement and no other work.) Meineke was willing to charge over $1000 for an alternator and s-belt that were not faulty. I'm only bringing it up to show the lack of trust I have in this location. I will not be bringing any vehicles I own to this or any other Meineke, so offering oil changes is not a good faith offer. I would like the cost of the front brakes ($188.03) refunded to us.

At the beginning of November I took my car to this company for a check engine light. I paid $1997 for it to be fixed. The light came back on. I got the code read at ******** and took it to them and told them it was the same issue as before. They took it and told me it was a different code and a different problem. I paid them to fix it and the light came back on the same day I got it back. I just took it back to get it fixed this past Thursday and told them the still problem is going on. Before I took it to them, I even took it to another mechanic and paid 128$ for them to run a diagnostic on the car to see what the problem was and they said it was the same exact thing. They kept it for two days and even drove it around and said that it was fixed. I drove the car for a day and the light is now back on reading the same code. I just want my car fixed and I would like half of the payment reimbursed to me. I would also like my money I paid the other shop for the diagnostic reimbursed to me.

This vehicle is a California model and we installed a 48 state compliant catalytic converter on it. *** ****** ********** looked at the car this week and identified this and replaced the catalytic converter under warranty at no cost to the customer. He is satisfied now according to my staff. We apologize for the inconvenience.

20 November 2023, the day of my scheduled induction for child birth I had an appointment early morning to replace worn brake pads. They just started rubbing and yet to make any groves in the rotors, it's why I was there, they insisted on replacing the rotors which wasn't needed, and refuse to replace only the paths they tried to scare me and say that it was unsafe to leave but refuse to work with me now I have to drive back to pick my husband up from the multiple sclerosis clinic where he was getting his infusion and that's why we couldn't replace the brakes ourselves because of his multiple sclerosis and he travels for work so he's been out of town he's home for the baby to be born we have a scheduled appointment to replace the pads they refuse to now it's the week of Thanksgiving nobody can fix it I don't have the money to replace the rotors and now it's Monday and he has to go back to work but now it's unsafe to drive because the rotors have been so heavily damaged just driving back and forth picking up the children and go into it from the hospital this past week on Thanksgiving. We didn't get to have a Thanksgiving because we were at the hospital and now the week after has been ruined because my husband can't go to work until he gets his brakes fixed our only vehicle is unsafe to drive simply because the guys at meineke refused to replace the pads because I would not accept the upsell... It is a disloyal dishonest unethical business and we have contacted a lawyer and if it's going to cost us more money to fix the damage that they could have prevented then we will be seeking damages and penalties and the amount of mental distress they have caused me during this time Of childbirth and Thanksgiving when they refuse to help a pregnant woman and try to take advantage of her. They need to fix my car for what it would cost to change the pads because that would have prevented all of this damage that has now been incurred.
