We had Trent finish our basement and our experience throughout was horrible. We were excited at first when he provided a decent quote on the project but his quality of work was definitely reflected. We had numerous occasions where he would do something incorrectly and then we would have to ask him to correct it. Our basement stairs were screwed in/out 3-4 times because he first had the stair risers different heights, then the stairs treads were too small where you couldn't put your whole foot on the stair. He ended up putting a bunch of shims on the treads instead of just recutting the risers. He also put down LVP in the basement and didn't have some planks seeded correctly so instead of correcting it while he was installing he just left them unseeded and continued. Parts of the framing under the drywall were severely messed up causing our soffit to have a large curve in it and the entertainment wall not a symmetrical box. For the air registers, we barely get any air flow through the vents into the rooms and he originally installed them into the drywall only which wouldn't ever allow you to remove the vent covers in the future. Furthermore, if there were large gaps from the poor woodwork he would fill it with caulk rather than using wood filler/sanding and the caulking all cracked after about a month because he used cheap materials. We were responsible for painting but he caulked the bathroom with white non-paintable caulk so we had to rip all the caulking out since it was smeared all over the green walls. The woodwork we were going to paint was not even close to paint ready and we had to sand and fill everything. When we added our finishing touches to the basement we continued to find more issues such as outlets/switches that were not horizontal, sunken in or loose from the stud. There were so many issues and mistakes throughout this process we would never recommend him. He was not a knowledgeable professional home renovator and his work was sloppy at best.
