Jan 19, 2024 I moved out my home **** ******** ** after putting in notice to vacate in Dec 30, 2023. I cleaned my home thoroughly with pictures to prove before surrendering my keys. I have pictures and videos before and after to show that the duplex was in perfect condition so that I would receive my full refund because the lease stated that if I didn’t return the home broom clean and trash free I “MAY” be charged $250 i worked in Texas for months no one reached out to me so I gave them a call in the ending of March beginning of April for update status of the return they said they were no longer over the apartments and I had to contact the owner of the duplex’s *******. I called ******* and she stated she were not over those and she would find out who was responsible so I could receive it she called me the next day and said she handled it and it would sent out or I could pick up the check I was back working so I asked if they could mail it. They replied they sent it certified mail for 2 weeks I still haven’t received the check so I gave them a call and they said they sent it but there mail system isn’t the most reliable I went by USPS they found nothing in the system with my name from them so they asked if I could pick it up Friday around 9, I agreed but they are closed on Fridays. Fast forwarding to May I texted them asking about the deposit they told me they thought I was coming to get it knowing they were closed and I let them know over the phone I would be heading back to corpus so they agreed to send it again still nothing in the mail so on my next off day I tried to go pick up the check since they told me it was there and already written the lady greeted me and told me the property manager was out sick I would have to come back whenever she returned. So my next off day 05/30/2024 I called before I went up there and they wrote me a check for $300 stating they were charging me $250 for a cleaning fee and $50 for maintenance. I have text/email proving everything.Business response

We tried multiple times to reach out to get the deposit sent out or picked up, but multiple times when the deposit was supposed to be picked up no one showed up. The deposit was sent via certified mail but no one signed for it, so it was sent back to the office. As soon as we received the check back we made contact to try and set up another delivery method. The lease clearly states that we may keep at least $250 for cleaning charges. This was kept along with $50 for additional repairs that needed to be made to the unit after moving out. Even though the additional $50 kept did not begin to cover the amount needed to make the necessary repairs, we wanted to try and work with the tenant and return as much as possible. When I tried to explain this, it was met with hostility and profanities. The check is still ready to be picked up or mailed to the tenant at any time.
