In 2017 I needed to replace a heat pump that was well over 21 years old which had stopped dehumidifying. This was the existing heat pump when I purchased the condo in ****. EZ Climate had the lowest quote and I agreed to the installation. I had sent an email to the condo trustee and property manager for approval since it involved installing a new compressor on the roof of the condo building and sent a copy of the email to the Owner/Contractor *********************************, at EZ Climate who was doing the installation. The wording on the email stated "Please let me know as soon as possible, my heat pump does not dehumidify". I had explained to the installer that I wanted a new heat pump comparable to the existing one, same brand. As it turned out the new heat pump did not cool as well as the previous one and did not dehumidify at all. It had to be set at 64 degrees. When I mentioned this to the contractor, he said the new ones do not use Freon as the old ones did. I put up with a bad situation for several ******* and then contacted the installer when the heat and humidity were too intense last summer. He claims that my previous heat pump did not dehumidify and he installed a comparable one. THIS IS NOT TRUE. The previous one dehumidified until it was well over ********************************* the email copy he received ( asking the trustee and property manager for approval as soon as possible since the existing heat pump DOES NOT DEHUMIDIFY.) Obviously, I would not be replacing an old heat pump that stopped dehumidifying with a new one that does not dehumidify. I am a senior citizen and never purchased a heat pump before. I had read online that all heat pumps dehumidify. The heat pump and installation cost $7,000. I will need to replace it before next summer due to health problems and mold on food due to inadequate cooling and high humidity. Before agreeing to the next heat pump installation I will check the model number with the manufacturer to make sure it is the correct size for my apartment and it dehumidifies. I would like to give this review 0 stars
I signed a contract a week prior to installation. I was looking at the contact today and I see that the model no. of the heat pump on the contract does not match the model no. of the heat pump installed. Owner/Contractor ******* ********* never said anything to me. This was a "bait and switch" Obviously, the price I paid was not for the model he installed. I suspect he installed a cheaper heat pump.
Buyer beware. The model no. on a contract might not be the same as on the item installed. Possibly the contract does not show the price for the item purchased and only shows a total price including labor. If there is a difference in model nos., it is quite obvious that the item installed is a lower price than the one listed on the contract with the invoice.
Considering the problems I have with the heat pump, I need to replace it before next summer, it does not dehumidify. I then plan to file a case in Small Claims Court against EZ Climate for a refund
As the saying goes "you can scam some people some of the time, but not all people all of the time". I feel home contractors can easily scam people. I have had experiences with plumbers charging by the hour and making a small repair into a big one
