I rented a vehicle from owner Josh of iDrive out of Baltimore from mid June to August 3, 2022. His vehicles were posted for rent on the popular "*******" app. I was starting my new gig as an **** driver. I've spent over $2,500 on his rental, renewing my rental daily or weekly in order to continue to make income from driving for ****/**** Eats/food deliveries. On 8/3/22 however, the car did not start and the owner left me 'high and dry' at 11:00 at night - 30 minutes from my home. I had no way to get home because the rental would not start! I was doing a food delivery to an apartment complex around 7:30pm. I parked, turned the engine off & left my hazards on. I came back literally 5 minutes later and the car did not start. I contacted Josh, the owner. We deduced that the battery died. He finally agreed to contact *** - appx. 9pm. They came around 10pm. *** jump started my rental car at least 5 times. Each time it started and ran for less than a minute - then the engine cut off! The *** guy told me the battery was bad and needed to be replaced. I was told iDrive's rental coverage did not cover a replacement battery. But the owner, Josh, was not willing to spend the $179-199 for *** to immediately replace the battery to get me home safely. Even though the *** driver clearly said he had spare new batteries on his truck! So at 11pm, I unfortunately had no one close by to get me home. I had to come out of my pocket to spend over $40 to catch an **** safely home - fortunately I had the money. I didn't get home until 11:45 pm. A 5 minute delivery became a 4 hour ordeal!
iDrive of Baltimore never offered to pay for an **** to get me home, nor was he willing to have someone bring me a spare rental car.I would not rent from iDrive ever again.

Renter was made whole by being refunded back close to $120 which more then covered her **** ride home and a refund for lost time .which she failed to mention . We did not have to that. Renter also did not realize that the vehicle had a bad alterntor which required replacement. This renter tried to extort money from us and was a high maintenance renter from the beginning who had unrealistic expectations and she should seek psychological help.

The refund only came after I had to ask for it. I submitted a Separate request for my out of pocket Uber ride home, which I received. "Extortion" is an unusual definition for a business required to give a refund for poor service. They got off very cheap not paying for a battery; or if harm had come to my person as a result of being stranded in a strange area.
High "expectations" are what I have - not "high maintenance" - for my hard earned money. If this business provided the "high maintenance" of it's own vehicles, they wouldn't be here on BBB right now. It's that simple. Never let a $50 fix turn into a $5,000 headache because of your pride.
And apparently the only psychological help I needed was to find out why I was stupid enough to pay iDrive over $2,000 at $57.75 a day for a day-to-day rental of a 2012 Dodge Caliber with rusty brakes, grindy windows, and poor acceleration - and they don't even make this model anymore. They said it had an alternator problem yet somehow 'passed' inspection.
But "you're welcome" 'iDrive'. Appropriately named - "iDrive" - because I drive right off their lot, never to rent from them again.
The iDrive guy initially was really cool. Prior to the incident where he left me stranded in a vehicle that wouldn't start at 10pm, I would have rated iDrive a 9 out of 10 stars! He was at first very professional and patient. After that 'debacle' I'd maybe rate iDrive 6 out of 10. But like they say, "if you lay down with dogs you'll get fleas". iDrive is better off going into business for himself and thus more likely to operate in integrity - ALL the time.
iDrive, InstaM, all these HyreCar Spp" companies, all service their cars out of the same roof on Reisterstown Road by the Plaza.
Perhaps because that area is a heavy public transportation use area, they think everyone's desperate for a car and will tolerate 'flaky' service. These "poor man's" rental companies want to 'hold all the cards' but then when they provide you 'sucky' service - oh well.
Guess I'm too old for "messy" businesses.

If this individual had any idea about what they were talking about they would know an alternator, battery , ac compressor , transmission , engine , or any other mechanical item could fail at any time . This "keyboard warrior " told me she gets what she wants by making on line complaints all the time and unfortunately in this case her extorted demands were not met the way she wanted and is upset about it . No one forced her and put a gun to her head to pay thousands of dollars renting a vehicle . We have rented thousands of people cars and this is the only person to ever make such claims and we won't be judged by the unhappiness of 1 , mentally unstable person .
