First of all... this company is a scam. You will pay $200 or possibly more for an online book that doesn't belong to you. I guess you could say I'm old school because I prefer the actual book versus the online book. When I pay that type of money for a book, I would like to place it on my shelf when I'm done with the book. You're basically renting a book for $200. Secondly I started a nursing program. The first 8 weeks was Med Surg. The second half was OB. I was unsuccessful in the Med Surg section therefore I couldn't go on to the OB section of the program. This company refused to refund me my money. So basically I just donated $200 to these corporate bullies.

To begin, Wolters Kluwer does not set which products are required for students at their respective schools. Schools across the country decide which products are required, and then work with our company's sales representatives to identify the price point for their respective programs. In checking with your area's sales representative, the schools associated with your account all provided 25% or more discounts for nearly all products. You mention that you were "renting" your book. Since your comment didn't specify which product, I assume you're speaking about our online VitalSource eBook. While online access is available for up to five years, you can own that product forever once downloaded to your VitalSource Bookshelf. As you are probably aware, utilizing resources older than that in the ever-changing medical world is not always the most reliable; hence, we work with our authors to regularly update the information within those books.



You also stated that you preferred physical books over eBooks in your comment. As I mentioned, we cannot control what is required, but we provide physical texts for nearly all of our titles, and we also offer inexpensive "loose-leaf" physical textbooks for a fraction of a hardcover. These products are yours to keep forever.

Regarding your refund request, our return policy (stated here) very clearly states that digital products can only be refunded before 14 days, AND if there is no usage (the "loose-leaf" books are non-refundable, which is displayed when purchasing). While I am genuinely sorry you were unsuccessful with the Med Surge portion of your studies, your account clearly shows extensive usage and is well beyond the 14 days. Many programs across the country offer 'repeater' opportunities where students can retake the course. Depending on the program, I am often asked to extend access for free. I would recommend touching base with your school to see if this is a possibility.
