I decided to give Snazzy Jazzy's a try, as their new location is convenient and one of their groomers had previously groomed my 2 Samoyeds at another grooming business which had since closed down during Covid. In my 7 years of taking my Samoyeds to various groomers in the Baltimore area, I've never paid more than $110 per dog, or a total of $220. When I picked up my dogs, I was asked to pay the astronomical amount of $575! In utter shock, I asked why so much, and was told that my one dog was $250, + $50 for undercoat and de-shedding, +$25 for "special handling." That's $325 for one dog, and $250 for my other dog. I voiced my concern this was a ridiculous amount of money and that I should have been notified in advance of such an unreasonable amount of charges, but my concerns were dismissed. I tried to call the manager to discuss the breakdown of the costs but to no avail. I sent a message through their internal messaging system, only to receive a dismissive response similar to the previous gentleman's response, basically stating "our price is the price." The poor explanation of the cost? "Our breed-specific pricing for Samoyeds is $150-500." How can any reputable business have such a broad gap in the cost of grooming without notifying the client of extra charges in advance? To this question, I was told that it was my responsibility to request an estimate before hand, when their website sates $100+ for a Large sized dog. Furthermore, I was told "their behaviour during the brushing process (which may have been painful given the degree of coat)" basically caused the extra charges. I was scolded for not brushing my dogs regularly or taking them for consistent grooming. I was told that they had not been groomed in a while. We brush our dogs every day, and they are groomed professionally every 8 weeks and I don't appreciate being publicly humiliated after positing my review on their Facebook page.
