I have never dealt with a business that is more dysfunctional than MDI Imported Car Service. I had my car there for 6 months. During that time a total of 19 hours were spent on repairs. I paid over $3000 and ended up with a car that has a body that is rusting out, has no brakes and is, in effect, totaled. The owner had the audacity to offer to further repair the vehicle for a mere $5000 more and what is more reprehensible offers me $200 for the vehicle when I've decided enough was enough. We're talking a 1969 *********** Why would a mechanic begin replacing the brakes and the front suspension when the entire frame and chassis should have been sold for scrap. The battery has almost fallen through the bottom of the car. When we went to drive the car up on the trailer we had to back it off because a piece of the underside was caught on the trailer. The owner went so far as to suggest that I drive it home. The car had no brake lines. Here's a guy charging $100 an hour, has one mechanic whose job it is to do repairs, answer the phone and work the front desk. Visualize this: The mechanic's turning a wrench, the phone rings, he drops the wrench or maybe brings it over to the phone. He talks for 5 minutes, forgets where that wrench, finds the wrench and then has to crawl back underneath the car to continue the job. That's $1.50 a minute. Of the dozen or so times I called some poor sucker was paying the shop 15 to 20 dollars to answer my questions. I never met the owner and hope to God I won't ever. I've met people like him. Small time hustler, generating 3 to 4 thousand dollars a week, paying his mechanic 25 an hour and working on wealthy residents of Mount Desert Island to change their oil and rotate their tires on Land Rovers and Audis. I only hope that this review dissuades some one out there from spending their hard earned money on a person that could care less. One of these days I only hope that the way he treated me comes back to haunt him.
