    Pattern of Complaint:

According to information in BBB files, this company has a pattern of complaint alleging advertising, billing, and refund issues. Specifically, complaints allege advertising for virtual casting calls for specific TV shows or movies are instead a sales presentation for the company's services. Some consumers report difficulty opting out of text communications from the business.

On August 31, 2023, Nine9 responded to BBB with their plan to address the pattern of customer complaint. In part, the plan includes:

"We plan to implement the following action items to avoid similar complaints in the future:

    1. Updating of placed written language making it clear the Virtual Open Call is not for a single project or projects but rather our valued services.

    2. Review to ensure that language being used should not potentially confuse or create a belief that a Virtual Open Call is for a specific TV show or film.

    3. Continued training of those who handle incoming text messages to ensure they continue the internal processes created to ensure opt outs occur when requested.

BBB will monitor the company's efforts. This aspect of the Business Profile will be updated once additional information becomes available.

If you are ever curious about giving the services another chance, please email me directly at ********************************* and I would be happy to assist.

I show that your cancellation was processed per your request on August 9th. I show they were not able to issue a refund due to a pending dispute you had initiated with your bank. On 7/25/24 I was supposed to attend a virtual open casting zoom workshop to be an extra on ***************** show. This zoom workshop was no where intended to be an open cast. In fact, this zoom call was to lure folks into purchasing a subscription for $99. Furthermore a quick ****** search while attending the open casting call for ********************* will inform you that they dont even use Nine9 for casting calls. SCAM!

The virtual call is designed to explain Nine9's services, including casting submission and access to training classes to build your resume. The virtual call is not an open casting call and not marketed as such. My apologies regarding any confusion or issue this may have caused. That is absolutely NOT what was advertised. Furthermore reading the rest of the complaints here, Nine9 is notorious for misleading folks into believing they are doing an open casting call. When in fact Nine9 is just trying to solicit sales.

I signed up for Nine9, paying $99 initially and $35 monthly under the premise that the casting calls they posted were done through legitimate means in that they had authorization to share those. I found out from one of the casting companies that Nine9 posted their casting call without permission. In addition, I was informed that this is an illegal practice that Nine9, previously known as, One Source Talent, was sued for and required to pay damages. This is an absolute scam they are running.

We work with a variety of casting directors that are seeking talent. I personally reached out to you regarding a hair show that you fit for that you responded stating you were unable to make it due to your schedule. Our services do work for talent that are interested in what we offer. I show a member of our talent services team has already reached out to you to process your cancellation and refund request. Your account has been fully canceled.

Posting "job listings" as advertising to an open casting call. Plenty of follow up including text and email that treats it as such. However the call is not and open casting call, it is just a marketing tactic that ends with you being pressured to sign up with credit card information for immediate payment during the call. The casting agent stays on the call the entire time until you join (pay them for nothing basically). They should not be able to "advertise" like this because there were plenty of underage kids on the call that they were mislead into all of the potential opportunities for them as underage actors and models. Predatory and scary how much pressure they put on you during the call. I think this is a real company but everything felt like a scam.

You are receiving text messages as we have a record of you previously filling out an application expressing an interest in modeling and/or acting. You previously responded to texts sent scheduling several appointments that you no showed for. We understand everyone's lives are busy, which is why you have received follow up messages looking to reschedule you. I checked your application and do not see you sent in a request to not be contacted further. I've went ahead and removed your application so you will not be contacted any further per your request.

This company has repeatedly contacted me about working with them. I repeatedly asked them to remove my contact info from their system. I can say with certainty that this company is 100% a scam. I work in the entertainment business. This company uses false promises of work as an actor or model to lure people into paying 500 dollars up front and 40 dollars a month to be represented. Which is completely against the law in ********** and ********. The work they do get their clients or auditions are free to find on legitimate casting websites. This company is predatory.

Our records show you responded to a text sent to you regarding your application asking what this is for. After receiving the response answering your question, you asked to be removed from contact. Your application has been completely removed from our database and we have not contacted you since March 28th, 2024. All of our services are outlined during the virtual open call talent attend, which includes proper pricing which is $99, not $500. As stated in this response, we will not contact you any further per your request and wish you the best.

My social media provided an ad to be an extra in Cobra Kai in a virtual casting call. When I got on the call, it was a thinly veiled sales pitch to sign up for a talent service that charges a setup + recurring fee. It was a total waste of my time and had me get up early on a day off for it.

Thank you for reaching out regarding your recent interaction with a member of our team. My apologies the call was not what you were looking for at this time. My complaint is regarding the ad being misleading.  The response expalins what happens on the calls which I'm aware of and why I complained.  Without changes to the advertisement nothing meaningful is being done.  Just like on the call.

Business Nine9 claims open casting call, then fails to provide service or information to follow up, leading many adults and kids astray throw a Zoom driven phone call selling a Talent workshop/portfolio development service for a 100 USD. I personally asked for information and attended a mass interview on 2/9/2024 attempting to secure a spot on an Advertised Open Casting call for Stranger Things Season 5 Extra character audition spot to see a "closer" type lady who is just trying to collect 99 dollars per guest to again a Workshop/Portfolio creation company that completely evaded my question regarding more information needed, regarding the Stranger Things casting call. After alerting the hostess that I wasn't interested in subscribing to the service (because I applied for a casting call, not a portfolio development/talent workshop service) the group was alerted of my question, and the hostess removed me from the Zoom meeting without answering my question (because she is there to close these malicious sales, and not provide direction).

The business did not address the complaint, and is requesting to leave the site to continue conversations. They have also tried to do a shady work around in text and video conversation as the agent answering is not the closer that i spoke to in the Zoom Casting Call, they will clear as day not have access to the logs of the call holder, as they are two different people with no communication with each other. Please respond back with what would be considered sufficient proof, i wish to follow up with any and all information i can provide to get these guys to show some accountability for their actions.
