    We stayed at the St. James Hotel for four nights in June , 2022. The hotel is very nice, and our complaint is not with the accommodations. Our complaint is with the reservation process when we booked our room.We called the hotel directly on April 27 and talked to ******* at the front desk.We wanted to talk directly to the hotel personnel and avoid a travel agent intermediary. ******* booked our room for a certain amount, but we never received a confirmation. We called a couple of weeks later and asked for a confirmation. It was mailed to us and the price was $500 less than what ******* charged us. We immediately called the hotel and after several tries finally talked to the accountant *********************. She confirmed that the hotel had not charged us the amount ******* told us. She promised to rectify the issue, but she has failed to do so and in fact, she keeps insisting that we went through Expedia to book our room. This is false, but it is recorded on the computer as a third party reservation. The only one who could have recorded it that way is ******* because he is the only one we talked to. **** also insists that the hotel did not charge us the extra $500, but our credit card was charged and the hotel refuses to give us a proper receipt. There is something very suspicious in this transaction. If this is a common practice with this hotel, someone in authority needs to investigate so it will not happen again.
