              I purchased a 2013 Malibu from here on Jan. 5. Easy to buy from, no hassle purchase, no haggling on price. 2 weeks later it broke down in my parents drive way; most likely the timing chain but could be a bent valve. Now looking at at least $1,300 to get a timing chain replaced or potentially having to replace the motor if a valve is bent. Timing chain is unforeseen, it happens, so not too upset about it. What is upsetting to me is that when I took it to my mechanic, he checked for any stored codes and found that there was a stored code for a cam shaft sensor on the exhaust side that failed and had not passed since the last clear. What this means is that the code/check engine light was cleared but the part was never replaced. If the lot didn't know about this, they definitely should have, and faults like this should be disclosed. ******** said that the cam sensor not being replaced could and likely did contribute to the timing chain issue. I wasn't upset about the timing chain issue until the cam sensor code being cleared and not replaced came to light.

              I am really sorry to hear that you are having issue. We did not clear a code and then sell the car. As we sell our cars with emissions inspections. When this car passed emissions it had all monitors set which means it went though its drive cycle and did not see any issues. I don't scan every car that comes in if it doesn't have a check engine light on there is no reason. If we knew of a cam code we would have replaced the sensor if it was needed as they are a cheap fix. If it needed a timing chain when we sold it that would have been fixed also as we can do that in less that a day. So why would we sell it and have the customer in a bad spot when we could have just done it and not had this issue. If you would like to call and talk about this we are more than happy to talk.
