I signed a contract with Montana Quality Contracting on 8/5/2023 for a remodel of my house. We were told by *******************, the president of the company, that work would be done by Thanksgiving 2023. He then told us Christmas 2023. Starting in January 2024, ************** stopped working on our house and took on other projects instead. There has been shoddy work done and no effort has been made to correct the work by **************. He is blaming the subcontractors for the shoddy work. However, we did not hire the subcontractors, he did. We were required to pay for a port a potty for 8 months, but no work was being done, so no need for that. My wife ***** has taken over as the general contractor because ************** deserted us. ************** yelled at both my wife and me for not giving him enough time. This was in January 2024, and then he just left. We felt very threatened by his yelling. We have lost thousands of dollars by having to pay two mortgages, utilities, insurance, taxes, etc. while waiting for our remodel to be completed. There is still no end in sight. There are numerous construction defects that have been neglected. We gave ************** a drop dead date to complete of June 1, 2024. There has been very little done since January and there is still no end in sight. We are requesting a full refund from Montana Quality Contracting so that we can hire a contractor to fix the shoddy work done. We have paid Montana Quality Contracting $139,535.60 directly. However, we paid some of the subcontractors directly an additional $114,557.70 for a total of $254,093.30
