I had a custom fence installed by Ryan beginning in late April '22. When the worker placed the posts not following the approved design, the owner came to me with the new issues and the ways he proposed to address them. During the installation the worker was fired for building issues that needed to be redone. I found out the intention was to have my gates swing out of the yard even though the gates in the original fence swung into the yard. That change had not been cleared in the fence design presented. When I explained the reasons we wanted the gates to swing into the yard, Ryan the owner considered how he would do that and agreed, though he wasn't happy about it. He provided latches that while attractive, would not secure the gates due to their design. He installed them anyway. The gates were blowing open even while padlocked. Since the purpose of the fence was to secure a pool, I let him know they wouldn't work. He argued with me until I physically showed him why. During the walk around Ryan showed me one of the gate posts was wobbling and explained his worker hadn't set it deep enough and he would come back in the next couple weeks to fix it. Later when I asked about it, he set five different times he would come back and didn't. Three of those times he didn't communicate that he wasn't coming. On July 13th, when I complained that I had made myself available on those days, Ryan got upset and became very unprofessional. He told me that I was lucky he hadn't left in the middle of the job like the pool contractor and the post not being set deep enough was due to a foundation over-pour (even though the previous gate post set in that spot was stable). He complained that I hadn't left him a good google/facebook/URL review and while he would honor his warranty, they were now going to 'put me on the schedule behind their last booked customer as of last week". It's August 31st and that gate is still inoperable. I have had to hire another contractor to replace that post.
