On May 14, 2022, my wife and I gave ******* Sharkey check # ***, for a $5,000 deposit, for him to serve as our general contractor for a paver patio our back yard. At the time we gave him the check, ******* told us that we would be having a July 4th party on our new patio. ************************************* cashed our deposit check on May 16, 2022. There were a few design conversations over the next month, but whenever we discussed start date, we received no response. July 4th came and went, and we began to call, text, email *************************************, and his construction manager ***********************. We either received no response for extended periods of time, or we received promises of start dates within a week or two. When Labor Day passed and we received no further communications from ******* or **** since early August, I sent an email on 9/6/22, informing *************** to cancel our job. I told them that we are glad that they are busy, but we just want to get our job done, and we are disappointed with the lack of communication and follow through. ************************************* became indignant and finally emailed us back, telling us was planning to start our job next week. I told him that we had had enough of being ignored and lied to, and that we simply want our $5,000 deposit returned, so we can move on with no hard feelings.There have been a few emails sent to ************************************* and ********************* since the 9/6/22 requesting our deposit check. *********************** wrote back on 9/27/22 that they have processed the check (less architect fees), but to date, 10/20/22, we have not received a check from them. We have had to email several times requesting this check, and we are now back to being ignored.
