Capozzi gets 0 stars from us. We received two estimates (they were on the same sheet.) on 8/2/23 from Coppozi Paving & Concrete One estimate was for the resurfacing of our blacktop driveway for $3472. The other was for the tear out of existing backtop, new stone, apply blacktop etc. $6076. We reached out to Coppozi and advised we will have the entire driveway redone for $6076. We signed the contract on 8/8/23 and put down the deposit. Capozzi's advised they couldn't get to us until October and we were good with that they would begin the install the week of 10/16/23. On 10/11 we received an email that stated there was an error made on the estimate to remove and replace the driveway. It stated that their estimator failed to add the additional costs to remove and excavate the old material. The total cost now would be $8680.00! The email also stated that if this is not acceptable to us, we were to let them know and our deposit will be returned. We called them and discussed it with them. The person we spoke to put the onus on us stating if we received other estimates, that we would know the amount quoted to us was under quoted. What the hell do we know. Companies inflate their quotes all the time, especially if they want to give the quote but not do the job. I have worked with people that do this. She said we have 3 options 1: resurface only, 2: have the whole thing done and pay the difference 3: get our deposit back. We called them the next day after consulting with our lawyer. Our lawyer stated it is a legal and binding contract. Our concern is if we told them this, they would do the job for the amount they quoted us but do a bad job. We offered them additional $1000 out of the $2604 they raised the price. They declined. We advised breach of contract. she said that is why they are offering us our deposit back. We advised we can sue them. She advised "I guess you have 4 choices now. Do you want us to get your deposit ready for return."

Dear Customer: We can certainly understand your frustration with regards to the situation. Capozzi Paving & Concrete, Inc. did reach out to you to discuss your contract with you, but we never put anything on you. That statement is simply untrue. People often take things/words and manipulate them into meaning something different based on their personal feelings, unfortunately we cannot control that. Capozzi Paving & Concrete, Inc did discuss a few options with you, and you stated you needed a day or two to think it over. You then call Capozzi Paving & Concrete, Inc and threatened to sue us after we were nothing but kind & genuine to you with regards to the matter, so with all due respect, we decided that refunding your deposit would be the best option. If you were already threatening us prior to commencing any work, we figured it probably be best to let you consider other avenues elsewhere. Your deposit was issued on 10/13/2023 in full and mailed out to you immediately. We wish you the best and we are sorry that things didn't work out.
