We hired Hard Working Young Men to complete a bathroom renovation. The agreed upon quote was for $26,000. The project was supposed to be completed 1/23/24. We were required $5,000 for materials at the beginning of the project. Despite this, **** ******* (owner) stopped providing materials. We had subcontractors at our home saying they could not do the work as they did not have the materials. Once the agreement day passed, we attempted to terminate **** as we felt he was not providing quality service. He threatened to put a stop order on our home since we did not have the permits and to file a lien. He bullied us into an addendum in which he was supposed to be done 2/13/24. He failed to provide materials again and we bought multiple materials that **** did not fully give us credit for. I’ve asked multiple times for proof of insurance which he was supposed to give per his contract. I have yet to receive it. He added stuff onto the quote without talking to us and said he “assumed” it was okay. When I told him he could not add prices without talking to us first he stopped replying and said if we didn’t pay he would be charging a late fee, even though we didn’t agree on price. We asked for arbitration, which is our right, and he said the cheapest was $5,000 (which is a lie). His work was not up to professional standards. I brought this to his attention and he told me to lose his number. We fired him from finishing any more work on the bathroom, but that does not mean he does not have to be accountable for the work he already did. We have had to have other professionals come in to fix him work. One other contractor said his work was horrific and unacceptable. We are having to pay additional money to have his work fixed. **** refused to give me all the money back for the materials we were forced to buy.
