Since june of 2024 patio enclosure and great day improvement has been under contract to enclose our back porch, since then they have given us at least three different start times. But no work has been done. They have gotten over 14,000 dollars in my name and I am receiving bills to pay for work that hasn’t been done. I have tried unsuccessfully to contact great day improvement but no one answered the phone or returns my voicemail. I am not prepared to pay 24,000 dollars for work that has not been started or completed. After reading some reviews from past customers I ‘m not sure that i would be willing to trust them to do quality work

[[BBB transcription via mail, see attachments]] Once the materials were ordered + received (about 6 weeks from the contract date(which was expected) the renovation of our patio began. About 2 weeks later they were done with the exception of the following issues: #1. The air conditioner needs to be hooked up to a power source. this took over a month to complete if not longer. #2. the floor creaks. After numerous visits by owner or more of their employees. This still has not been totally solved yet. #3. The new door does not open completely and opens the wrong way anyway. #4 My worse complaint is that I am concerned is when it rains water comes from under the door, Not solved as of today. This project has been one recurring headache. We are very disappointed with Patio Enclosures.

The contract was created in May 2024. It has been almost 6 months and the sunroom is still incomplete. This renovation is costing over $25,000 which I having been paying the last 3 months. The biggest disappointment and complaint is length of the job and the lack of communication. From the start, I have been calling and speaking to from them and they have yet to respond. I have also contacted their corporate office. They told me someone would contact me within 48 hours. I never heard back from anyone. I guess this issue starts from the top. My family’s stress, time, and effort should account for something here. I hold this company accountable for its lack of professionalism, and I deserve some compensation. They have no problems charging and asking for payments in a timely manner. The job should have been completed in a timely manner. I want to hear from someone in charge who can get this without any further delay. Thank you.

We originally purchased windows from Stanek with a lifetime warranty in 2000; that particular location went out of business and this current location took over the contract, but will not honor the warranty. We have 2 windows in need of repair. After numerous phone calls, they finally sent out a service person who said they would have to see if they could find the parts needed as the windows are no longer made. Around Aug 26, 2024 received a message that they found the parts. We have been trying to reach them ever since - no response to our phone call messages, texts, or emails. We have left 2 messages with the corporate office in *********, but to no avail. We would like the windows repaired and the warranty honored now and for future repairs. Company also goes by Great Day Improvements.

6/6/24, we met with **** ******** to discuss building a patio enclosure. He said they could build on our existing deck and wrote up a contract. We said only Deal Breaker would be if they could not finish project before Nov. He said no problem, install would be August or beginning of Sept. . Employee, **** came out to measure, then we heard nothing. We called our contact, *******. She said he did measure. When CADS were ordered, she would call us. We heard nothing again. Was told she had retired and **** had left the company. . 8/5/24, **** ****** came to remeasure. Called later and asked about deck supporting post and if they were cemented in. We said 4X4, no cement. We were asked to remove part of decking and send pictures, which we did. We did not question removing decking and railings, because per contract, we would receive $300 back for doing so. .9/2/24, **** ******** asked about proceeding without their permit. We said, no, not without their required permit. He said for an additional $8700, they would install proper supports in cement. We said too costly. . 9/23/24, **** said they could beef up the deck for $3000, and we could get our own permit. Why? Because their engineers would not issue a permit. This was another RED FLAG for us. . Through no fault of our own, we realize that this project cannot be completed before Nov, 1st. . Bottom line, after 5 months, we have a mess on our hands. A partial deck and railings. We removed our shrubs. purchased a fan with light, and outdoor light. We are unhappy and disappointed, to say the least. We know that we did not violate the contract and hope that you will do the RIGHT THING. We are requesting a refund of our deposit in the form of a personal check.

      Business response

      10/22/2024

Thank you for your patience as we’ve worked through this project. The delays were due in part to necessary evaluations after discovering that the existing deck was not built to code. Since the deck serves as the foundation for your sunroom, it must comply with current building codes for us to obtain the required permits and complete the project. We offered several solutions to address this, including deck modifications, a full replacement, or changing the project to a non-permitted status, but all options were declined. As per the contract, any pre-existing conditions that affect construction, such as structural or code deficiencies, are the homeowner’s responsibility to address. Unfortunately, since the deck remains out of compliance and we’ve been unable to come to an agreement, this has resulted in a delay that we are not liable for under the terms of our contract. We will be proceeding with your request to cancel the project, but the deposit will be retained in accordance with the contract. Should you wish to revisit any of the proposed solutions to bring the deck into compliance, we remain open to working with you to move the project forward. Thank you.

Our deck was built in 2006, permit #****.  The structure was per code, in compliance, and NOT code deficient.
We were told that we could have an Aug or Sept install.
It was Aug 5th that someone came out to remeasure and questioned the structure under the deck.  We feel this should have been discussed before signing the contract. We had no idea it could be a problem.  On 9/2/24, we were asked to proceed without a permit. This did not sound ethical to us. We declined. Later for an additional $8700, they would add the proper supports.  We were unable to do this.  Then for $3000, they could beef-up the deck, but we had to get our own permit. Once again, in good conscience, if the permit could not be obtained through Great Day Improvements Engineering, we were not comfortable with this solution.  We feel we were very patient in all the delays, not hearing anything for weeks at a time and not getting return calls.
We do not feel there was any fault of our own that we had to agree to cancel our project. We complied with our end of the contract.
.   We purchased the light/fan fixture and the outside light.
      .   We removed our bushes.
.   We removed the railings and decking material, of which we were supposed to receive $300 back for doing this work ourselves.
Per the contract 11.3, (Attached) re: Cancellation and/or Termination
They can return ALL or PART of our deposit.
Had they incurred expenses for a permit, variance fees, engineering fees, labor, materials or commissions: that would be our expense.  NONE of this was done.  No CADS were ordered, therefore no permit, no materials. No work was done at our home.
In fact, when we last talked to them, we offered to give them $3000 for any expenses they might have had, BUT would like the remainder of our deposit back, which would be $17,474.  They did not even get back to us,
We are only asking them to be reasonable.

      Business response

      10/29/2024

To clarify, the deck must meet current building codes due to the sunroom addition, which includes updates such as securing posts to concrete, doubling band boards, and adjusting spans for joists and beams as required by the latest code standards. Our previous response remains applicable, as the modifications are necessary to secure a building permit. We’ve offered several options to address this, but without approval to make these required updates, we’re unable to proceed in compliance with our contract. Our goal is to meet all safety and legal requirements for your project. To move forward, you’re welcome to hire a separate contractor to modify the deck to meet these requirements or we can do the work. Alternatively, if you choose to cancel the project, we will retain the deposit as outlined in our contract. Thank you.

I NEED your help. I am 88 Year old. In June 2024 I saw an ad in The Clipper. I still have the paper with the ad. It advertised a door, an exterior front door. The company was listed as Stanek. I called Stanek and asked for information. They came to measure the door, I thought Stanek came and measured. Now I realize Great Day Improvement came and They NEVER stated they had bought out Stanek. I don't remember giving them a check or signing any contract. I was not given a contract. In about September, I looked at my bank statement and saw a withdrawal for ******+. My bank told me the withdrawal was from Great Day Improvement. I called Great Day Improvement and was told they had bought Stanek. I told them I had waited too long and no longer wanted the door. He ignored me. The stress led to my hospitalization. I got home, 10/10/24. Someone came to my house yesterday in a U-haul! A man and a woman with no uniforms or logos identifying they were from ***. They re-measured my door and went back to the truck and told me the door they had was too short and they left! I have NO DOOR. I want my money back. I have documentation of my bank statements and 2 undated emails from ***. I have NO contract. I use my phone, I have No cell. I check email occasionally. I told them I preferred phone calls. PLEASE HELP ME!!! My daughter is helping me with this.

Thank you for your understanding regarding the delays. Weve addressed the missing materials and scheduled our lead installer to returned with the door. After reviewing, we believe the sizing issue might have been a misjudgment. The glass pack was misplaced in our warehouse but has now been located. Our records indicate that the door has been installed and your job has been completed. Thank you.

We signed a contract with Great Day Improvements on 12-05-2023 to enclose our screened in porch with work to begin in about 12 to 14 weeks. Work began about 3-13-2024. The walls were installed by 3-23-2024, however, the finish appearance still was very much lacking. Also, the door installed opened in the incorrect direction. The door was replaced but is not aligned properly. We have had numerous service calls by a technician to correct the problems. When they come out, only a small portion of the problems are addressed each time. In addition, on multiple occasions, a scheduled appointment was not kept and no notification of cancelation was given to us. We have also been ignored on multiple attempts to contact them through emails and phone calls and voice mail messages. We are being put off and put off with promises of future completion but there is no follow through. Thank you for any help to resolve the issues.

We purchased a custom design patio enclosure in June of 2024. The product was installed on July 13, 2024. There were several fabrication defects that needed to be fixed to meet the standard of quality that was sold by the salesman **** ******. The company quality control manager came to our home on July 15, 2024 and agreed with all of the issues concerning the quality of the workmanship in fabricating the enclosure. The company requested that they have the opportunity to make these corrections and have it acceptable to my wife and I. On September 25, 2024, the installers attempted to fix the enclosure but discovered that the new materials that were fabricated was just as bad or worse than the materials that were installed in July. The installers informed me that to attempt to install the new materials would make the enclosure even less quality than what was originally installed. The company's regional manager ***** ***** called me to say that it's the best they can do and that I need to accept the enclosure the way it's been installed. I totally disagree with ***** and feel that I have been ripped off by Patio Enclosures.

We understand your concerns about the fit and finish, and we made multiple efforts to address them, including reordering the screen sash units and conducting inspections by our quality control team and managers. All inspections confirmed that the product meets our manufacturing standards, and we’ve done our best to remedy the situation. We have already offered you $300 in compensation, which you accepted. We regret that our efforts did not achieve the outcome you were hoping for. Thank you.

Avoid this place at all costs. February we met with ***** our design consultant who helped us design a sunroom that met our needs and was within our budget. Ok so we did. Was told 2-3 week timeframe start to finish once the town approved the plan. Come June the build started but the builders ( who conveniently used my back yard as a toilet) didnt finish Didnt close up the room and had no timeline for an electrician. Spent the next 3 months going back and forth with ****** ******* the contact with great day who absolutely failed to secure an electrician. Builders had to come back out twice who were supposed to be back WITH a supervisor who didnt show up for roof leaks, bad door and window alignment and resealing a poorly taped up roof. I had to plead several times to get these guys back out to s**** in the room properly and at the very least get the room closed up. When some parts finally did arrive late August for a screwed up door I had to complain to get these guys guys back out. Still no electrician but I was told they were trying everyone. Ummm no you havent. Monarch electrical a local electrician who installed my sub panel could have had the work done asap. Again no follow up. No email. No call back from savina. So Im stuck with a) a room I cannot use b) no electrician after several months c) no inspection yet so I can landscape around the room and maybe my family can use it. No follow up. Ghost town with these clowns. Whats worse is they are lying about getting a local electrician (seriously? Been going on 5 months to secure this). Absolutely horrid customer service and Im done with excuses We are absolutely upset
