***** * ****** 808 W 4th St Marysville, OH 43040 937-642-4239 February 8, 2022 Columbus Better Business Bureau 1169 Dublin Rd Columbus, Ohio 43215 Proof of payment attached Dear BBB representative, In July 2019, a woman hit the right side of the bumper on my 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. She had no insurance. I took my car to **** ***** Autobody at **** ******* ***** *********** ** ****** *************. He ordered and installed a new bumper. On July 2019 I paid *** ***** $873.76. I paid the amount from my personal money because I knew if I used my auto insurance my rates would increase. After a few weeks the bumper began to separate on the left side where it fits the body of the car. I called *** ***** many, many times. He never answered and did not have voice mail. One morning I called him from my cell phone and he answered. This told me he had blocked my other phone and answered my cell because he did not recognize the number. He said he would see what he could do. After having it for a few hours he brought it to me. He showed me a part that he had taken off and said he thought it would be okay, but if not, call him. After a few weeks the bumper began to separate again. It was also not fitting as it should on the right side. By this time COVID happened. I called him for months. I drove to his shop one morning. He was inside, but would not come to the door. Because I could not get a response from *** ***** a friend, who works on autos said he could order two clamps and that should hold the bumper. He brought the clamps, looked underneath the care he said, “there is nothing under ther to connect the clamps.” I had him return the clamps.He did nothing to the car and I am wondering if the part *** ***** took off my car is the reason the clamps had no connection?? Around the end of April 2021, I drove to *** *****’ shop. He had the door open, came out, looked at my car and said *** *** was graduating from college on may the 10th and after that he would repair my car. That didn’t happen. I called him a few months ago and he actually now has voice mail. He did call me back. I said, “****, you can not repair my car, can you.” He said, “If I had a bumper that fits I could.” I asked him why he did not order a bumper that fit? He said he ordered a factory bumper instead of a GM bumper. He sounded as though I should have known that! I am ** years old and would not have known the difference between a factory and GM bumper? That’s why I was paying him. He said he could order a GM bumper but it would take months to get it. He also said he would refund my money or order a GM bumper. He said he would call GM to see how long it would take to get the bumper. Later that day he called and said it would take months. I told him to refund my money so I could take my car to the dealership in Mechanicsburg to be repaired. He asked for my address which I gave him. That conversation took place on January 12, 2022, which has been over three weeks. I haven’t received my $873.76 and I am certain he has no intention of keeping his world. He has jerked me abound, lying to me for 2 ½ years. I will appreciate any assistance you may be able to give me. My car only has 21, 496 miles and I need it to last much longer. The bumper continues to separate and I am concerned that it may separate completely. Thank you, ***** * ******
