On January 19, 2022, I took my deer to Duma Deer Processing. I harvested this buck the previous day, field dressed it and hung it overnight on a scale. The deer dressed out at 132#. On January 26, 2022, I went to Duma's to pick up my processed meat. To my disbelief, Duma's only returned 31# of processed meat and that included only 1 backstrap. Every deer has 2 backstraps and I've always received at least 50% of the hanging weight in return after being processed. (i.e. I should have received about 60# of meat). I've harvested many deer over decades of hunting and always received at least half the hanging weight in processed deer meat in return. I've taken many deer to Duma's over the years and recommended them to family and friends. When I picked up what little of my deer was returned, I found the place so filthy that I was surprised the Board of Health hasn't shut them down. (To my disbelief, I found out that the Board of Health does not inspect Duma Deer Processing). The smell of rotten meat and rotten blood was overwhelming. I saw mouse droppings on the floor, along the base of the walls. I asked to speak to the owner and I was told he wasn't there. I left my name and phone number for him to call me about these issues and he did not. Duma Deer Processing has a motto that states, "your deer back guaranteed". They did not give me "my deer back" and there "guarantee" is a lie. Furthermore, they should be regulated by the Health Department.
