Good people beware. On Feb. 7th, 2022, I experienced one of the worst experiences of my adult life. During my normal morning Cross-Fit workout at New Albany (CFNA) I was verbally and physical assaulted by Cross Fit trainer *****. The trainer had been following me on social media for months and finally approached me and asked me why I filmed my workouts. She then told me in a very nasty tone that maybe I would have more followers if I performed my workouts properly. I responded that she was a mean person and she then launched into a profanity laced verbal assault and punched me in the arm! I was the only Black person in the gym, and needless to say tribalism still exists, as Robyns majority allies rallied to her support and lied on her behalf. As I was calling the police, another of the majority, a trainer and apparently very close friend of Robyns , by the name of ***** warned me that I shouldnt have done that because its not going to work out like you [I] expect. Despite his threat, I filed a police report. To make matters worse, after I explained what happened to the owner of the gym, ***** who is also a member of the majority, eventually dismissed *****, but revoked my gym membership after 5 years of my loyal patronage! He claimed that since he has no cameras in the gym, which is a safety and potential liability issue, it was the trainers word against mine. I am an educated, married Black mother of 4 living in a well-to do predominately, White neighborhood in a home that we own. None of these trappings of success mattered. I feel doubly victimized by the trainer and now the owner of the gym. I will gladly spend my money elsewhere.
