I paid a deposit the week before Christmas 2023, and my first months rent on 1.2.24 with money orders for a total of $1490.00 to Robert Reams. We were at the apartment complex at *** * ***** *** ********* ** for about a half hour. I signed a lease. he said I could not see the apartment because he forgot his keys.
We agreed I would move in the week of January 18th. He texted me multiple times to say I would be in by the 18th. On the 17th, he asked me to meet him at the apartment. When I arrived, he showed me the meter box because there was no power to the apartment, and AEP had capped the meter. Because there was no power I could not move in. Then I went in with him, and found out there were no floors, the walls needed to be painted, the stove didn't work.
I told him I was scheduled to move out.
Two weeks later, he said I could move in. I moved in on 2.8.24. I texted him that evening to say the stove doesn't work, and the apartment had not been cleaned. he did not respond.
I moved out on 2.14.24.
I asked my case manager to contact them on my behalf. Then he texted me to say he had another apartment available. I said no. He said he would get my deposit back.
