RUN!!! I will preface this by stating the home is gravely understaffed but this is NO excuse for poor work ethic and poor attitudes while caring for the elderly, ill, and bed bound. My mother was admitted there from a hospital stay recently, for rehabilitation to build her strength to come home. Getting her in her room that evening was a disaster logistically and it was hard on her physically with her physical limitations as a result of her cancer (transport company waited a while in the hall with her on the ******). She couldnt walk and barely could move. I was there with her all day and everyday because of all the horror stories you hear and see about nursing homes which again turned out to be ****% TRUE. The reasons NOT to go:1. If you go in the evening, you will find workers on their phones and the place is VERY noisy with a million TVs blasting.2. Your loved one will be ignored for their basic needs, such as, diaper changing, repositioning, medicine distribution, bath, and water to quench their thirst. In the middle of the pandemic, patients rolling around the halls do NOT wear masks. Have complaints to address your concerns? Dont expect a returned call from the director/manager or whomever. Were still waiting on someone to return the call.3. If you want your loved one(s) to meet their maker quickly, do NOT send them here. See #1 4. They distribute water in a 7 oz plastic cup. So take your own supply. Im also not sure why the staff has just a cooler of ice in a central location to use as they distribute ice for ice water. Cant be sanitary??.5. Nurses dont follow medicine instructions. The entire time, they had to be hunted down to get her medicine on time. Inquired about me just administering her meds but it was a legal thing for me not to administer meds as opposed to the staffs neglect wasnt much of an issue.??6. My sister and I did most of the changing of her diapers, changed linen, gave her baths, and tried to help her avoid the massive amount of bedsores she gained from being there. 7. Room was only cleaned once. Vitals only checked twice while there. One aide came in the second time stating, I dont know why we even have to check vitals. Need your personal devices to check vitals, we did. 8. The lack of concern of being checked upon and despite her being a skilled patient, she couldve died alone in her room without anyone knowing. Her condition was already frail but dropped significantly just after 2 days.9. Prison food is guaranteed to be served despite a controlled diet.10. When the decision to move my mother home into hospice care came about, the nurse on call was somewhat helpful but had the audacity to ask if we wanted their hospice referral. I called around myself and found hospice care. Time came for paperwork and authorization to begin to make the move immediately on Monday, there was pushback on immediacy to get the ball rolling. I totally understood that it was a Sunday. But the effort couldve been different as we were taking a patient off of your hands. My mom was in severe pain. Hospice walked us through EVERYTHING! The hospice nurse told me to ask about comfort meds. Echo nurse on duty said, we dont do that. We only administer meds they are sent with. Another lie. Just didnt want to take the time to order it or even evaluate the situation. It couldve been done.11. Day to escape came we were packed and ready to get outta dodge in the morning. Hospice is wondering whats going on to proceed to meet us at home for assessment and admission (Hospice already had medical equipment sent to home). Hospice called several times and stated they never called back and was waiting for a return call. Long story short and according to Echo Manor, because my mom was a skilled patient, the nursing home doesnt do non-emergency transport home. Another lie. Hospice walked me through everything and the responsibilities and abilities of Echo. Echo had us sitting all day while we waited to escape the traumatic experience. We were ignored and eventually was eventually told that I needed to pay up front for transport home when it is covered by ********* I told them money wasnt an issue. Just get us a transport. What do you know and while having Hospice on speaker for assistance, Echo reps state, we contract with a few companies who do non-emergency transport, we can call them. Finally, transport came in the LATE evening. Appeared very inexperienced, by the way.12. In all, I wish Id just taken my mother home initially and skipped this awful traumatic experience of a death camp for current and future patients. No one wanted to take the time to assess my mothers condition and get her those comfort meds when asked and requested, she died that Friday and was truly in more pain than what the pain medicine they had for her could do for her at the time.
