Our family had an unfortunate experience with K-9 Kingdom. I am writing a negative review to share our experience. The last day of our trip out of state, we received a voicemail from the kennel telling us that our goldendoodle had been bit by another dog. We were told that our dog was administered “first aid” + then returned back to group play after a brief separation. We had to request photo evidence of the bite ( ended up being several punctures + lacerations), we asked them that they take him to the vet next door to get examined by a professional, and we had to demand that they isolate our dog from the other animals for the remainder of his stay. *What should have been a standard protocol for a bite incident, wasn’t a consideration for K-9 Kingdom. He had multiple injuries and was clearly scared. There was no apology from staff, over the phone or in-person at pick up. Most worrisome, they failed to provide proper medical care (until we demanded it), as our dog clearly needed professional medical attention and antibiotics due to the bite(s). I appreciate them paying for the vet bill (which the owner initially stated was “unnecessary”), but it doesn't change the fact that my dog suffered physically + emotionally bc of their negligence on handling the situation. Accidents happen, but how they handled the entire situation and care afterwards was despicable. The kennel’s lack of compassion + care for our goldendoodle was inexcusable. Had we not advocated for him (while out of state) to be seen by a professional, further infections could have developed. Had we not requested he be removed from group play, another bite could have occurred. We are still having follow up appts with our vet to monitor his wounds, continue antibiotics, and administer laser treatments for healing, blood flow, and new skin growth. This was disappointing + traumatic for us & our dog. Find another kennel where your dog is prioritized and treated as a family member instead of as income.
