On May 11, 2022, I had a representative from Shield Roofing (Dean C****) come to my home to give me an estimate for a new roof. We agreed on a price, he was very friendly and helpful. He told me it would take about 4 to 6 weeks before they could get to our project. Not a problem. About a month went by with not hearing much, then they reached out and requested to get permission to pull $3319.21 out of our ***** *** account for supplies (we were having the roof financed through ***** ***). Since then, there has been little to no communication and we are still waiting on our roof. They have stopped answering their phone, they don't return phone calls or emails, and now I'm out over $3000 and I'm not confident they will ever be able to put a roof on my house. On the many calls I've made to this business, (and also to the salesman, who also doesn't answer phone or return calls/email) I've made it clear that I no longer want to do business with them. I am going elsewhere to get my roof done so by the time they get around to doing it, if they even try to, the work will already be done. It has been over a month without being able to speak to someone. I had to reach out to ***** *** and ask them for help in getting a refund. They reached out to Shield and they never got a response either. Meanwhile, my first payment was due August 4, 2022 and I didn't pay it. I'm not going to pay for something that I don't have yet. I'm working with ***** ***, but they say there isn't much they can do until they hear back from Shield. Please help... I have excellent credit and I don't want it to get ruined because of this. I just want my money refunded to my ***** *** account so I can move on. Thank you for your time.Initial Complaint

In April 2021 we contracted for Shield Roofing to replace our gutters and under hang. We payed them part of the cost up front. A check in the amount of $2450 was given to Fred C**** and cashed in May 2021. They had trouble getting the materials due to COVID. They called about six weeks ago and told us they were prioritizing back orders and would contact us shortly. We have yet to hear from them. We have called at least a dozen times and left messages. We emailed them, to no avail. We went to their location in South Point OH. It was locked with chains and sealed tight. I made a visit to 200 Hale Street this morning. According to ****** that was also one of their places of business. There was another business at that location. Can you help help us?Initial Complaint

On or about April 1st I signed a contract and gave a deposit of $1800.00 to Shield roofing to install a new roof on my home. I was told by the representative ( Fred ) that someone from the company would contact me and confirm the arrangements and work should start within 2-3 weeks.. that makes the start time mid April. It is now August and I have no new roof. I contacted the office by phone phone and was told that they were having staffing and weather issues but that I was next on the list. I received an email 5 days ago stating that due to staffing issues and a break- in at one of their locations that further delays were going to occur. The email also stated that phone calls would have a waiting time of 3 days before anyone could respond. I have called and left 2 messages with no answer. As a result of this on- going delay there have been shingles that have blown off my roof and now when it rains I have a leak in my bedroom ceiling that has damaged the ceiling and carpet. I included this information in the messages I have left and I have had no response. In my message I have requested 1. A new roof as per my initial request or 2. Refund of the $1800.00 deposit so I could get someone else to replace my roof. I have had no response. I am asking for help before I have further damage to my home. In good faith I asked this company for their services and have been patient. I am at a loss of what to do now.Initial Complaint

On May 19, 2022 I signed a contract with Shield Roofing to get a new roof installed. I was told it would be 4-6 weeks. On June 10th they asked for a down payment of $2615.59 and said the job would be done in the next two weeks. After not hearing from them on June 29th I text Dean C****, project manager, and asked when the job would get started. I was told he would check with production and let me know. I have not heard anything since. I have called, text, sent e-mails No answer. I finally went to the office in ***** *****, **** - it was closed! I have now heard that they went bankrupt! They knew when they took my down payment of $2615.59 that they were not going to do the job.Initial Complaint

I had a new roof installed in March 2021. The roofing process went well. No major problems. The roofing team did it quickly and respectfully (aside from a little debris left in the yard afterwards). The project manager credited us for some damage to a piece of lattice. The problems I faced came post-installation. I realized that a small hole, roughly 2 x 2 inches square, was left in a piece of siding. I've had numerous communications (e-mails) with the company but it's now April 2022 and still I have a hole in my siding. That's problem number one. Problem number two: more siding damage, sustained in late Feb 2022. This time siding blew off due to wind, however it was discovered that the siding had not been re-secured when the flashing had been installed. There was a sense of urgency because I had several (5 to 8) pieces of siding missing and we've had some rain recently. I had a local handyman come and put the pieces back on for me and give me his opinion of the situation. The repairs cost me $200, so I'm seeking reimbursement from Shield. That's not including my time, which is valuable: calls, text, emails, this complaint. So the total cost far exceeds $200, especially if moisture damage has caused further issues when the siding was loose. Time and time again it was communicated that the issue would be resolved with emails stating "we'll be there early next week, for sure." and "we'll be there tomorrow around 8am" and "we already have it on the schedule for Thursday"... yet, still I wait.
