I accidentally locked the keys in the trunk of my husbands car (2012 or so ******** C305 with over ******* miles) in the parking lot at ************ on ************ in ****** on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. I was driving his car due to mine being totaled by a firetruck. I did a ****** search for mobile locksmiths, and called GA locksmiths, or their parent company. I asked the young man who was being dispatched how much the service would cost. He told me it depends and could not/would not give me a ballpark number. He arrived in the van about 45 minutes later and hopped in the drivers seat (AAA came earlier and unlocked the doors, but the security system in the car would not allow the trunk to open and the alarm blared every time the door was opened). The young man (********, I think) had a magical device that looked like a thick iPad. In less than 5 minutes he was able to override the cars security system and I popped the trunk open using the interior button. Everything seemed great until I asked how much it cost. He told me $350. I said youre kidding. He was not. I was furious and asked him to call his supervisor. He put me on the phone. I expressed my astonishment and anger at the outrageous price. I am 71 years old and on a fixed income. I told the supervisor I would not pay that much, and that it was a rip off. He responded that when I go to the grocery store I dont get to say how much I will pay. I told him that I know how much cereal costs, and that he had NO TRANSPARENCY. He said he would settle for $300. The dispatcher said if I used my credit card, he would have to pay the interest, and said there was an ATM in CVS and that I should get CASH. I withdrew $300 from my savings account and gave it to him. I also gave him a $10 tip (I must be crazy)! It was raining and I just wanted to get home with my groceries. IT WAS ALL SO UPSETTING! I have a photo of the van. I spoke with ********* at the *** yesterday. She was wonderful. ***************************************
