Shady Dealings with Customers on Subscription prices so on my Dads bill he is paying 170 dollars a month for a 4 week 7 day all access subscription yet what I am seeing online for home delivery is a lot less and the digital access prices are really low also. So how is he getting charged 170 dollars a month, plus it lists a monthly rate, a 3 month rate, a 6 month rate and a full year rate of over 2000 dollars on the Bill. listed on their website is a price of 104 dollars without a discount for 26 weeks how is he getting charged 170 dollars a month?????????????? that is 2040 dollars a year plus he is billed an extra 4 dollars because he pays thru the mail. He is 86 yrs OLD!!!!!!!!!! Number one he does not use a computer, nor does my Mom anymore. So how is he getting charged this astronomical rate. I get listings for digital for 1 dollar for 6 months but that it renews for either 3.50 or 4.50 a week. So he is paying for all access 42.50 a week. he should be paying no less then 8.50 a week for all access. This is PRICE GAUGING at its Finest. RIDICULOUS

So this is how you deliver the paper to a 91 yo senior that was always a loyal subscriber and enjoyed your paper. This is unexceptionable and disgusting!

Is there a way to give ZERO stars? I am shocked at how bad their customer service is. Customer service, online or on phone, is out of country. Representatives have little to no ability offer substantive help. I had an unauthorized charge for an amount substantially higher than initially agreed and they refused to refund the amount. Also, was provided no indication of renewal, no indication of increased rates, and made no agreement to the term. Absolutely despicable. Caution to anyone that subscribes, they will not honor their rates and they will charge you whenever it suits them.

For the 2nd year in a row, The New Herald has cut our service by months saying we did not opt out of "special editions" for their 6 month promotion where they offer you 6 months of delivery for $20! After 1 month of service they say you did not opt out and end your service abruptly! I contacted ,their office at the customer service # and was connected to a foreign agent in Arizona! after speaking with agent , and explaining the situation, he said that I did not opt out and said I would be charged for anymore deliveries! I gave him the date we signed up, the agent we spoke with and even time of day! Since all calls are recorded I asked to speak with a manager and have them pull up our conversation. He stated that there was no manager available and that one would return my call within 5 days! It"s been 6 days and if I don't receive a response I will file a complaint with the BBB to let others know of their business practices that effect patrons!

The News Herald has charged us $254.25 for a 13 week delivery of the paper. For the exact amount of time for our neighbor, they charged them $40.00. Our paper has gone up $65.00 from the last time we paid and we would like to know why. We have canceled the delivery and hope you can help us out. My husband is 90 and I am 85 years old and we live on a very fixed income. We just don't understand why this costs us so much and not others. Thank you for your help. ***** ******* ******** ****

The News-Herald and the MediaNews Group's pre-paid subscription are non-refundable, lack of notifications of renewals is extremely dishonorable. I just tried to cancel a subscription because the price has more than double in the past year ($156 in 2022 to $338 in 2023). After seeing a charge on my credit card and calling, I was informed is was non-refundable. The service rep could not produce the contract that I agreed to that stated it was non-refundable, instead he pointed me to an arbitration link on a website. In addition, there was no email or letter or any other communication that says your contract is due. Most reputable companies will send you a communication to notify you that your contract is due for renewal with the cost, thus providing you an opportunity to decide if you want to continue. In addition, a lot of companies will also offer you a pro-rated refund as well in these types of situations.

I have a paid subscription and after it has been effect for months the paper is starting a surcharge. I told them we had an agreement where I PAID in advance and that I do not want to pay their new surcharge. ( They deduct the amounts from my subscription so my subscription terminates sooner) I called and told them I do not want to pay the surcharge and was told my options are to pay the surcharge or terminate my subscription with no refund for the unused portion of my subscription. I do not think they are treating their customers fairly. Thank you,
